Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super Review: More Power, More Performance

The 1660 Super is a great 1080P card but in 2023 it is still way over priced brand new from a retail store.

I got this card on a i7 10 gen, 4ghz OC 4.8, 16gb vengance ram sticks, And my PC is a blower, Its incredibly fast for the price range, Yeah this card is amazing for sim racing, AMS2 looks stunning, See i would rather wait now until Jan when graphic cards will be hella cheap, Even that said im over the moon with the performance of this card, MSI afterburner works amazing with this card so whats their to moan about at the price point, I cant understand why people are still buying consoles, I payed 455 pounds for my PC and it will stomp on a PS5, I think lol...........
Still tho PC will always be the future of gaming simple, With the cheap builds you can do in your room in less than a day an feel that sense of check my work Yeah man.......
I will not be going back to console its a CON, People are so daft they cant see the clue is in the name its self CONsole lol..........
No im no console hater but i do fell robbed after realizing a PC is so much cheaper, No subscription unless you on iracing, lol....

This is hands down the best mid range GPU I've ever owned. If you can find one for a couple hundred dollars, do it.

Considering to buy a computer with this gpu in 2021. Is it still worth it ?

I’ve been buying gpus since 2001. All these new cards are nice to have, but do any of you have the budget ? Great! Buy the latest greatest! but the naked truth is that you don’t need to set yourself back with a $700 gpu just to play pubg. Ask yourself.. how long will you actually play Witcher 3 on ultra? How long will you play GTA5 or fortnite? For me, I play games like Skyrim or Chivalry. Sometimes I’m playing warzone and battlefield on high/ultra with very good FPS and I spent less than $240. I want to make this card last 3 years then replace. I’m happy with the 1660 super. It’s the sweet spot for me and for my wallet. I don’t care much about Ray tracing or improved lighting. Unless you’re so detail oriented and care about the environment in the game, it’s not worth dishing out on these new expensive cards. You’ll just end up envying the nee Nvidia line 2-3 years from now and you feel like the rtx 2070 you bought is now old in 2022 lol! Save your money folks. Find the middle ground in GPU and be happy with your gaming. If you care about high FPS... go outside. It’s in 10k resolution. All you need is a pair of really good eyes.

my old 3770k with my gtx 770 still does 30 fps in far cry 5 , in 1440p, everything turned to max, not bad for a 10 yea old computer.

Got this one while I wait for the 3080 to come back in stock :) It was either this or a used 2080 TI...though the TI will lose so much value it's not really worth it, it's like buying a 1660 super throwing it away lol.

Well I just bought one for £150 so I can sell my 1080ti before 3000 arrives. I also used to own a Titan X Maxwell back then... The fact you get the same performance for this price is insane!

So what is the difference between "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6GB GDDR6" and "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER OC 6GB GDDR6 GAMING"? I See that latter has one more Fan and costs 20 Bucks extra - to what effect? Changes the loudness?

I'd prefer AMD, but I'm probably going to buy a 1660s first. When I can see an amd/intel advantage over Nvidia I'm going to switch.

Just missed temperature tests. Was curious about them cause mine can reach 76‐78°C while gaming and 50 at idle. Ty though!

I'm waiting for a MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB GAMING X Boost  to arrive in the post tomorrow. I had the option of spending £340 on something bigger but decided the extra money would be wasted, bang for buck as the Americans would say. I added an SSD instead. Then again I'm not a hard core gamer.
It is the sweet spot for me.

I upgrade my 760 to 1660 thinking it was the best option for my budget backthen, but in just a few months they release 1660 super.. and btw at my country the price difference is just around $30 while ti version is around $80 from 1660.. my heart ache so much.. fck you nvidia

The GTX 1660 has about the same graphical power as the original Titan X from 2015.

Although not so much given that the cheapest and most basic card you can buy today, the GT 1030, which costs $60 and can be found in discount bins for $40 or even less, has about the same graphical power as the GTX 560 Ti from 2011.

Seems like the 1660 Super is a gpu when you need to update today bc of your PC has gotten old, damaged but you don´t have the money to go higher. Giving you time to save up for a better card in 2 years time.

My 980ti is still going strong can’t believe it’s 5 year old and stil gets over 100fps at 1080p in a lot of new games.

Why not test it in 1080p?

Not very green from nvidia wasting all that electricity. They could have dropped the price of 1660ti and reduced co2 emissions. Now people will get gtx 1660 super instead of ti and waste 5 Watts extra. To a buyer that matters little, but to the environment å bit more.

The gpu market in 2019 is a bit dull at sub. 300 Eur mark. Currently there are no gpus that makes me want to get a new card and build a new HTPC.

I was a little bit confused to choose between 1660 Super or 1660 Ti for my little brother, even tho I want to buy the RX 5700 XT Gaming X (since that card looks cool, but well I don't want to spend so much money for it). And somehow I ended up in wondering "So the Vega 56 still worth it?" It's hard to choose a present isn't it? 😂

Seems like a redundant card. They should've just dropped the price of the 1660ti. Well, ideally, drop the price of every Nvidia card.

Sometimes we forget how good the Vega cards were. I see this as nVidia flooding the market a bit, but the price is good.
