Phalaina - The Lark in the Morning

Traditional Irish song ...also known as "Ploughboy's Glory" or "The [Pretty] Ploughboy", and so on. A very widespread and popular song-family, of which at least eight traditional versions -all English, with tunes- exist !! (There are lots more). The Irish "Lark in the Morning" was made popular in 1971 in the arrangement of Steeleye Span with Maddy Prior and Martin Carthy who own the rights of this arrangement.
Steeleye Span are an English folk-rock band, formed in 1969 and remaining active today.
