I think the part where he implies that sex is sex regardless if it’s gay or straight as long as it is in marriage is a HUGE downfall. And I’m not going to disqualify this guy from being God anointed because God has revealed a LOT of His truth. But I will say that maybe this deception was allowed in his life because of some prideful part of him that he isn’t submitting to God. It is also for us to see that no matter what, no human is 100% righteous and can be deceived in some areas and sin. Let’s not get convinced that all he’s been teaching is a lie now because of this one thing. Let’s pray that God enlightens him on this issue. It could be that he has struggled with homosexuality, was molested and is confused on right and wrong. It’s hard to discern where it’s our own sin.

Eunuch, gay, Christ incompatible just by its definitions. And you know this.

Basically people with aberrant genetic situations or accidental disabilities or infirmities and diseases that may keep them from being chosen or the ability to chose a partner, people with same sex/gender attraction (or a variation of these things), divorced people (who should probably just stay unmarried after), widows and widowers (who could get remarried if they want to, but best not to) and people who willingly want to serve GOD fully without responsibilities of family and marriage (or that ended up in that role without first thinking about it) are asked here to embrace and accept their circumstances and stay single and don't engage in sexual activities of any kind. Find GOD and serve Him with the time and resources that we have. PERIOD. Acceptance and see it as a gift kind of like the story of the owner giving talents to three servants and leaving. One of the talents is being able to work and move quickly because you aren't tethered to a home and to a family. There is nothing weird or abnormal about it. If you want t be married and have sex then marry a person of the opposite gender (yes that means you same gendered attracted people or etcs), be true to yourself and the person you are wanting to be with and accept each other and work on the relationship and be loyal, etc etc. But if it is not going to be the calling of your life or you dont believe you can be loyal or you simply want to serve GOD then dont force marriage. Stay single. Stay celibate.

For those who are born as eunuchs (or intersex), would it be a sin for them to attempt to get married? Given that they are BOTH male and female, is it a sin for them to have sex because no matter who they have sex with, it'll be considered homosexual?

God is His Word. He is clear and does not speak in circles and avoid truth.

Listening to this in 2023 where society's confusion has gone ballistic. It is now ok for students can identify as a cat. Let alone male or female. Jesus' answer is so simple. Not Tim's best. His teaching is diluted by the world's teaching on gender.

What an exceexcellent talk on a very touchy subject. He brought up many points that most people miss entirely. And he concludes it with something that only true men with saintly qualities would know or realize...Thankyou Mr Mackie.

Okay, let me contribute my two cents. Single people and Gay people ARE the same, one is simply caught in lust and sin in a way that the world defines as “being gay”.

@bibleproject how do you even put gay people and single people in the same category as both being ostracized???! As you stated, being single is promoted by Jesus and Paul, NEVER is homosexuality seen positively. Homosexuality is ALWAYS seen as going against God. Being single is not immoral, homosexuality is immoral. Homosexuals are to be ostracized the same way as an adulterer or pedophile - both of those are "normal" to the person engaged in those behaviors. Straight or gay DOES matter. Being straight is the normal way for how God created us but being gay is turning away from how God created people. God created people with the ability to procreate. Think of this verse: "if you lust after someone then you are an adulterer in your heart." A desire for wrong sexual behavior is deemed judge worthy and not just the actual act. Homosexual desire is wrong - I am not referring to being tempted but rather someone who thinks that those desires are ok. And to include "No straight, no gay" along with "no male, no female and no Jew or nonJew" is to add to the bible and make it seem as if gay and straight are no different than male / female, or Jew / nonJew. Being male or female is not a moral issue. Being Jew or Gentile, in and of themselves is not a moral issue. Being straight or gay is a moral issue. Homosexuality is ALWAYS against God. How can you make the gay person feel comfortable with those desires? You did a disservice to the homosexuals in your congregation.

Tim you yourself and the Bible Project do an excellent job at explaining and painting a picture for your audience to have a better understanding of Gods Word. I don’t know if your nerves got the best of you, but you left many really lost on homosexuality, love your gay neighbor, it’s ok to be gay just don’t have sex, Jesus loves gay people… Your audience straight/gay need you to paint a clearer picture. Your a great caring and loving teacher. I’ve never questioned any of your teachings, but this one you have left many very lost and confused. I realize this was done 6 years ago, but it would be wonderful if you came back to this topic and straightened it out for all of us. Thank you!

I saw a video about this, and I am a bit sad. I just want to ask why you referred to Gays in this video. Comparing gay to strait in the same way as man to woman. I understand that he doesn't mention that there is a difference, but it sounds like you believe some people just are gay from birth. Is that what you are saying?

Eunuch are eunuchs for many reasons. But the purpose of life is to serve God. THIS is NOT an apologetic for any advocacy of queerness, to be clear. BUT certain people are born to be sexually perverse (gay/lesbian). And some people are born to be mentally handicapped. Some people are born with addiction tendencies. Some people are born without genitalia. The attendance of the church is not only Christians (including Christians who are sexually perverse—who should be eunuchs) but of other people who need to hear the word and be saved, including sexual deviants, addicts, etc. But that being said, the church has every right, according to Matthew 18, to pray with 2 or more people (the last straw after other warnings) to ex-communicate the now-trespasser. So there are limits and expectations with the attendance of the church, but amongst the members are those who are not saved.

I love how this guy presumes to know why the Most High gave his commandments.

Biblical Marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. Period!

I’m not sure why or even how he brought in being gay into what Jesus said. Jesus did highlight a man and woman in marriage he then said you can be someone who never marries like my aunt and then someone who never marries like Paul who dedicated his whole life to serving Jesus. How and when Tim brings in being gay which is clearly described as wrong (Leviticus 18:22) and in other chapters is truly confusing. So no Tim you are wrong on this point and I do like your other videos and your talents. But encouraging sin instead of calling people out of their sin is wrong. Bringing sin into verses that have nothing to do with it is even more baffling. Not here to argue or anything but for those of you just now looking into the Bible here is what God has to say about homosexuality “you shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination” —& - Leviticus 20:13 “if a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them”Jesus then goes on to say Matthew 5:28 “but I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” so Jesus does not say sit and struggle with your sin and as long as you don’t act on it you are okay. He brings freedom from all sin. Read Roman’s 6 and 8 you can become a new creation and your old sins will be washed away. Repentance is key. God bless everyone and I’m glad for the Bible project his videos have helped many many people but this is wrong and could be very dangerous leading people to not fully repent and die in their sins.

Please know that my observation is NOT meant to be hateful. I love the way Tim provides context, and I think gays should be welcomed in church. However, Tim seems to be endorsing homosexuality by never mentioning that it is a sin. I hope to be wrong here, and look forward to being corrected. God bless you all!

This is pretty good up until the end where he says that there is no shame in being a homosexual and that God does not recognize homosexuality versus heterosexuality as one being sinful and one not being sinful. He doesn't say it explicitly but that is the implication. He fails to make the distinction between adultery vs. Fidelity polygamy versus monogamy.

Obviously he thinks adultery and polygamy are wrong but he doesn't draw the same conclusion about how there is no shame in them the way he does with homosexuality. Tim needs to repent of minimizing the sin of homosexuality and equating it with singleness. It is sinful and is wrong and it is contrary to the image of God.

Well marriage is still to be desired by men and women… you shouldn’t idolize it but you equally shouldn’t make it a burden or even a common thing. After all, Songs of Solomon has a very high view of marriage.

Another thing that bothered me was Tim saying that they seek to make all people comfortable in their church. Is that really a good ideal? I don’t think Paul really sought that as his highest goal. Cant find that in any of his letters.

This is wrong, very wrong, you can tell that Matthew is uncomfortable and knows Christians will not, in majority agree with this doctrine. Jesus didn't have sex or get married because He is God in the flesh, he does not need to reproduce, He came to earth to save.

Isaiah 5:20 - Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered. As is any sexual act which does not seek an openness to life within marriage.

On target message with the BIG exception of homosexual relationships. Homosexuality is never endorsed by the Lord. Homosexuality is an Abomination per the Holy Bible/Scripture. Not mentioned in video but saying those were different times, culture and contexts is a poor argument. That being Bible Project has good panoramic videos on the Bible and of it’s different themes.
