Norton is such an astounding actor. The difference between the scared alter in Primal Fear and his role in American History X is night and day. I didn't even realize it was the same guy till somebody pointed it out to me. Now he is one of the names that will put my ass in a seat for any project that has even a mildly interesting premise, because I know that he can carry the entire production if need be!

American History X is the most depressing movie I have ever seen. I can’t watch it. The crappy way the family lived after their dad died. The Aryan crap. The entire prison portion, then him coming home to his broken family in the crappy apartment, then the brother being killed.

The only redeeming part about it was him wasting those car thieves. It wasn’t the racial part of it. It was a property owner removing lowlife thieves from society. The movie showed that prison wouldn’t have rehabilitated those car thieves if they were arrested. The curb stomp was disturbing, though.

Heard that story a few times but not quite like that. I think it’s absolutely true for Edward. He can kind of do anything and he does. What a super talent. Absolutely love him.

Too bad Eddy Norton couldn't tell this in a way that wasn't so insulated actor sounding if that makes sense. He should try to talk to normal people every now and again

American History X was an absolute masterpiece. Edward Norton was the perfect choice for that project as was Edward Furlong. The Black & White aspects of the film and shots of the beach were visual mastery. That film should have won big but unfortunately did not and I think most of us know why. Edward Norton is a fantastic actor and I hate to say it but I don't believe he will ever have another role that can top that. He should have been catapulted to the very top of the Hollywood sign after that performance.

If Norton made American History X today he would be called a racist and supporting the far right even though it was the opposite.

If American History X came out today, it would immediately be review-bombed by all the anti-woke bigots freaking out and screeching about it being 'woke SJW garbage' and how people should 'kEeP pOliT1cS oUtTa MaH eNtErTaInMeNt', because apparently any piece of media that tackles topics like racism is automatically 'liberal propaganda'.

I miss this kind of content on JRE podcasts. So sick and tired of hearing about health topics. I know it's Joe's PC and he can talk about whatever he wants, it just gets soooooooo tiresome.

American History X is a movie that is lauded today, but if it were made in 2023, some closet racists too cowardly to admit it would call the film woke because it’s about racism. If you expose anything racist white people do, you’re woke now. I’m white. Not all white people are racist, but to not call out people who are puts us in very weird times. Nobody wants to be offended anymore, and there’s a lot of projection going on from certain people.

It's crazy in a span of one year he went from buff shape in American history X to skinny limp in Fight club that shows how much great actor he is!

No wonder he played torretts really well
