One thing i notice no one mentioning. The SQUIPS are manipulating events if the entire play. Both in this and upgrade you see the squip manipulate events seemingly to the users benefit but it somehow also hurts people the most? Using people like tools and cutting the user off from people that care.

My headcannon is that squips are manipulating society to try and implant everyone with them as a means of control by preying on insecurity. Hell i bet the squips are also tge ones who got to rich in tge first place.
