Always bothered me how this song was used in little kids musical pageants. It's such a dark song. TDS perfectly captured the emotional trauma of the lyrics.

Once I heard all the lyrics to this song I liked it but hearing it in this minor key is the key to making it absolutely beautiful to me. (Then again, I'm a sucker for all these old timey songs- especially the ones that are truly murder songs).

This is by far the wildest and most beautiful version of this classic. Thank you kids, for playing it so well!

The first time I listened to this song I almost started tearing up and I don’t tear up often

I know this is an old classic but who sings it? The fact that a band can actually make it awesome to the point that I now have it in my head and it wont go away is a testimony. LOL! The dead South can sing the Hokey pokey and make it good. Wow! Who would have thought "You are my sunshine" would be one of my favorite songs.

I like this version in the artistic intent but I remember this song sung to me by my mom as a tiny child and in a major key to accent its positive quality in tone. I really don't get that it's so dark, just mostly wistful.
