I personally don't know what all the fuss is about when it comes to Dubai. My personal feeling of the city when I visited was inpersonal, fake and souless.

It's not that incredible what the engineers have done there given that the same thing had already been done 50 years before in Las Vegas.

Its a poorly planned city where public transport, for its population size, is pretty much non existent. Without a car life in the city is pretty much impossible.

The fact that they haven't even got a modern day sewage system to serve the city and 200 trucks every morning need to empty the cess pits of poo at the Burj Kaliffa every morning pretty much sums up how poorly planned even the most basic of insfrastructure.

Dubai can pretty much summed up as a vanity project on the worlds biggest d*ck measuring contest. Lets build the worlds biggest indoor ski slope in the world in the middle of the desert ... makes sense right ?
