Spyderco Sage 5 M4 Blade HQ Exclusive

That frn looks much lighter than the LW Para 3 M4.

The Sage series is solid but in the end it's another knife in that size/form factor and I've got plenty of those already. I enjoy the feel of a good action but after owning a few different compression locks it's not high on my list of choices.

Anyone who doesn't like the compression lock is crazy

This is an excellent edc option, light enough to wear with athletic clothing, .12” blade thickness so it’s thinner than a para 3, and m4 to boot. If you don’t live in an environment that rust knives, this is an incredibly safe option.

I have a lefty PM2 and the lock is great when it's designed for the user's hand but I don't carry it once I got my large and small lefty insingo 21's.

Mine came with a stick of gum is that normal?

Love the Sage 5, but passed on this one because I have a Bailout in M4 and it doesn't excite me. So I just spent my monthly knife allowance on a GSO-3 in Magnacut, because that steel excites me.

Had mine for a week and can’t carry anything else. Amazing fidget factor, the action is incredible. Much better egos than the PM3LW and the aesthetics are also much better. In comparison, the PM3 blade is just ugly with that giant hump. No clue why the Sage 5 isn’t way more popular than the PM3 and the Native 5 (which has a terrible fidget factor with that lock).

Got a sage 5 lw and I absolutely love it! The sage series is always overlooked. Saving for a maxamet sage 1! One day…

Anybody ever have any problems with Spydercos M4? I bought a mint green para 3 in m4, blade hq exclusive. It never seemed to last over a days worth of work. I sharpened it many times on my KME and almost always the same result. Cut some boxes, sharpen pencils, maybe scribe a board if I am missing a pencil, and by the end of the day it couldn’t even cut paper?

The wire clip is the only clip I've ever had that, when it snagged, it both bent the clip out of shape and caused the knife to fall out of my pocket. This happened twice. I hate that wire clip.

Spyderco is kicking other companies asses as far as value goes. Tool steels, thin edges the list goes on. They’ve really come into their own with their lightweight models.

The sage looks to be a good edc size. I've yet to experience a compression lock spyderco. Great video 👍

This is my new favorite knife. It kicked my Oz Roosevelt out of my pocket. I pray 🙏🏻 spyderco does more versions of the Sage 5 imma get ‘‘em all.

Glad you decided to showcase the Mint Sage 5 LW ! Spyderco really got it right with the "Lightweight" aspect of this Sage 5 LW (including liners!). I really think they screwed the pooch with their other Lightweight models (Para3 LW / Native 5 LW / Manix 2 LW) when they decided to omit any liners. At the very least.. give us heavily skeletonized liners!? As for the Alzheimer's Donation proceeds.. it's only for the standard/base model Sage's. The Exclusives don't count towards that. And I'm fairly certain Sprint Runs don't count either. BUT it's different with Pink knife models.. any Pink Spyderco knife has portions donated to Breast Cancer Awareness. Spyderco really gets it right. Absolute favorite manufacturer with outstanding customer service.

Hmm. I was going to get one of these but noticed some more stuff in your video that has just about turned me totally away from this particular Sage 5. I notice as you held the knife and we could see the bottom of the blade as it was into the handle. The jimping looked quite crud, and worse was right behind that where the blade had some sort of weird looking design or defect. My Sage 5 s30v doesn't have that, it's smooth. Add in the blade "flat spot" (rolled edge/possible chip) and blade not centered.. Yeah man I would say you got a bad one. I own more Spydercos than anything else and the last few I've seen issues with Lock stick, horrible blade grinds with dull edges out the box, chips in S45VN out the box and off center blades. I'm about ready to hang it up on Spyderco knives. When you get into the price they are charging for their knives now, it makes it even worse. Seeming less and less a deal and more of a bending over.

I was going to get the native 5 in m4 but I will definitely get the sage now. My father has dementia, it’s a horrible disease.

The dlc is incredible . Get it before it’s gone. The thieves on eBay are already overpricing them

I'm left handed and have no problem manipulating a right handed compression lock but if Spyderco came out with a left handed PM2 in Black DLC and Digi Camo I'd be all over it lol

I should have started with this model. Had many Spydercos, just got this one today. Amazing. Sage is kind of a weird name. In hand they should have called it "mini manix compression lock". I mean I get it they have several models, but yeah. My favorite model to date. Only thing I had to do was dye the scales didn't care for the mint color.

awesome knife , got offered one last year said no.......big mistake...why do we want the knives we didn't like when they came out ? or is that just me , ian uk.
