To describe the German Tribes as uncivilised and Romes greatness to be forgotten for centuries is just very poorly said. Even during the gothic period, the people of Rome didn't abandon their culture and kept for example the semi-circular arches in their cathedrals, while everyone else was switching to pointed arches. I think the narrators perspective in this video is kind of arrogant at times, because it views the world back than from above rather than to understand the world and why things happened (why did people "forget" Roman greatness? Because it sounds like Barbarians just shoved every Roman aspect away until the Renaissance came along which is just poorly explained and not true). Still I appreciate the effort put into this video.

This program entirely ignores the fact that the Renaissance would have never been possible without the Islamic peoples of the world and in southern Spain! They're the ones that found all the ancient books and discovered all of the discoveries of ancient Greece and Rome! They translated all these books first into Aramaic and then into Latin! They borrowed the technique of making paper from China and thereby invented the first printing presses( which they were never given credit for) and their whole lives were based on learning!
The ignorance of Isabella and Ferdinand and the rest of the illiterate unwashed catholics of Spain would have never discovered the histories of Greece and Romans without Islam!
The Muslims were incredible artist scientists doctors philosophers teachers architects, mathematicians and astronomers! Their architecture was magnificent!
Over many centuries they had acquired vast knowledge of antiquity! The ignorant illiterate masses of Europe didn't have a clue didn't care and just lived in filth and trash!
So credit should be given where credit is due! We're it not for the Muslims and Islam there would have never been a Renaissance so soon after the reconquest in Spain!
But what gets us is that the Inquisition burnt thousands upon thousands of books which the Muslims had written and preserved all the history that they had discovered in the last several hundreds of years!
Pathetic! Just like the Catholics killed thousands of people and maimed thousands more it forced them to convert to Catholicism in Spain then they did the same thing in the Americas! Instead of preserving all the books that the Aztecs and the Inca and the maya had written for posterity, they burned them! Even in Europe after the printing press was rediscovered they began to print Bibles the catholic "church" would go into towns and burn every Bible that every person owned so that the church itself and the bishop would be the only person who could own and possess a Bible! They knew if people had the true Bible that they would know that this anathema of a religion and their teachings were lies!
This is because they were evil and corrupt to the core! That's why half of the crap that the catholic "church" puts out is anathema to God and to the scriptural Church! Their lies and inventions trying to destroy the original Church but they were not completely successful! The scriptural church is alive and well throughout the world to this day! Praise God!
