62 years old is not that old by today's standards. She looks 102. She has been homeless for 4 years (what she said)--her choice.

Homelessness has nothing to do with freedom. Homelessness is the opposite of freedom, regardless of whether you are young or old or middle-aged.

There’s a lot of judgmental people on here. I’m lucky I have a really good working brain and a big family, but a lot of people by the time they’re elderly do not have family and maybe suffer some mental illness or beginning dementia. This society eats and spits out people nowadays. The land and housing is being bought up by investors from the USA and also foreign investors. They don’t give a crap about anyone. I met someone today who said the rent on Chicago’s northside where I live is actually not higher than the rent in the small Midwestern town he just moved here from. It’s not because we have cheap rent, it’s because all the small towns have crazy rental prices nowadays. It’s out of control.
My own local park in Chicago is filled with tents, it’s getting worse every day. We live in a sick greedy society that never put any controls on housing costs and greedy investors have taken advantage. Half of our country will be living in tents soon enough. Especially with all the migrants we keep letting in. I’m tentatively planning to move into a van or trailer at some point myself, because my Social Security retirement will be minimal. And I’ve never managed to make excess money, like so many people who are essential workers.

We have a real homeless problem here in the US. If our leaders would stop funding wars and giving tens of millions to illegals we could help our homeless population.

What jerk gives a homeless person a ticket. 🙏

Just moved into my SUV because my landlord raised the rent $650 in a year just because she could. Invisible isn't the word to describe what its like. Traumatic as it is. Im employed as a therapist and chose not to stress myself out struggling to pay bills. I met with local government officials to put a face to the working class homeless. America is ghetto smh

Just watched a video here a few hours ago. The cops in El Cajon, CA. approached several homeless people. The cops offered to take them to special facilities for the homeless and advised the homeless people they would be given three meals a day, have a roof over their heads and have services to get them employed and back on their feet again. Every one of the homeless people turned down the help.

Homelessness is out of control. We are housing millions of illegals but not taking care of our own. It is very hard to have a job when you get older. No one will hire you or you aren't well enough to work. Something needs to change. We need to rescue these people who just want to feel safe.

But by the grace of God go I … I feel so bad for this poor woman , I’m alone have children that care nothing about me , I’ll old and in bad health .. but God has given me a place to live , I wish the Government would help all of these poor people , it’s so wrong what is happening here no one cares .. I care my friend !!!

I think I may be homeless soon. Not because I can't pay rent. I've been here almost 13 years, but now I'm having plumbing problems. It's been about a month and I can't use the sink or shower. Each time they come to fix it, it gets worse. They are slowly dismantling the bathroom. It's like a scene from the 'Pacific Heights' movie.

The best way to help people like Brenda is to support housing as a human right. Stop defending and supporting anti homeless laws, encampment destruction and wealthy people who are hoarding properties that should be people’s forever homes. It won’t stop until collectively we decide, no more.

I felt Brenda's pain. If i had an extra room and lived local, I would rent it dirt cheap to her (I am in England). Why can the community not help her and others like her. I wish church community could set up an eco village like community with simple, basic accommodation. Residents help grow organic foods return back to the community, for example. I am asking God for this.
