This is inspiring. And daunting. The great thing is to see the dramatic result. Never having done this level of work I get overwhelmed with taking the risk and knowing if it will result in anything.
ОтветитьAmazing work!
ОтветитьI learn so much from your darkroom videos. Your method of using a burn card is fabulous. Don’t know that I see myself moving to masks, but regardless, I learned a lot from this video.
ОтветитьLove it!
ОтветитьCan’t imagine doing this in a 3 hour session booked in a community dark room… but so inspiring !

ОтветитьI never really got into the heavy technical side of darkroom work in art school, but having worked as a Photoshop professional for nearly 20 years after, split grade feels like the most sensible way to print now. I can pretty much visualize myself pulling the curves around when I make my two exposures.

Ответитьthis is interesting. When reading "Masking" I definitely expected orthofilm and sandwhiched exposure to create it… I do wonder if the photoshop masking is fine enough to be practical.
ОтветитьI never bother to make masks, if I can't dodge with my hands or a dodge tool I just leave it, but I really enjoy watching you making the effort. Great video
ОтветитьOne of your best videos. I may go back and look at the Photoshop technique of making dodge masks, which seem less time consuming than the ortho film and development method.
ОтветитьWould love to have an enlarger where I could pull the negative carrier out and back in for a process like this - but alas I don't and this would be a blurry mess and impossible process to try. Would have been super helpful with today's print of the old barn up against the mountains and clouds in the back ground I was working on today.
ОтветитьI have the same enlarger, where i can find the mask negative carrier?
ОтветитьMeanwhile, a straight print at grade 2-1/2 turned out exactly the same... Just kidding. Nice work!
ОтветитьI didn't realise that the negative carrier fit so precisely and that there are no misaligments when you pull them out to change masks. Great work!
ОтветитьGreat informative video 👏👏👏
ОтветитьThanks for the book!!!
