Does Techron Fuel System Cleaner Actually Work? (with PROOF)

i go moreso how my car drives after using the product. Though no fuel cleaner is magic,its more of a temporary fix.....it probably should be used at least once every couple of months or more. The cleaner Ive been most impressed with was a cat cleaner.They must be stronger than the regular fuel cleaners!!! I was amazed by the one I used!! My car drove like new again....and its around 20 yrs old!!!

I put a bottle of techtron in about half tank full. I may or may not top off. Techtron was about $7 ammsoil is about $19. I only use occasionally.

Does it make a difference if it’s reg or premium

I can say it does work. I have a C5 Corvette (97-04) that has a common problem of the fuel gauge going to E and staying there. The car has 2 tanks and 2 fuel level senders which very commonly get fouled by contaminants, the common fix that works to get the gauge to read again is called the 20-20 treatment. 20oz bottle of Techron in a tank, another 20oz in the next tank. 95% of the time the gauge will start to work again, I tried this just last week when my gauge dropped from 5/8 tank to E. Gauge started working again with the first treatment.

I used this on a 2006 Honda Odyssey I bought to fix and sell, and it worked so well that I was baffled by it. However, keep in mind what the problem is. Every issue may require something else. Chevron Techron Fuel Injector cleaner, works excellent for cleaning fuel injectors and it's the best I've used for that sole purpose.

Would this clean the fuel injectors? Thanks!

Might be one of those things where you need to repeatedly use it consistently every so many miles before things get this bad, as with most cleaning products. Some people claim to use one with every oil change.

It looks to me each bottle flaked up the carbon a little each time, so with 3 bottles....? Ive always wondered why you cant insert some sort of abrasive brush into the cylinder via the spark plug and scrub the carbon, and if you could, why no one's designed a special purpose brush to do the job.

Hm.. i wonder.. would this stuff help more if we add some drips directly into the combustion chamber withut the engine running? Just a few drops on the carbon itself to let it soak a bit.

I wonder more about the backside of the intake valves on direct injection engines like the GM 2.0 Ecotec turbo engines.

It is a fuel system cleaner, not a carbon remover. You could look at fuel injectors to see if they get cleaner.

BG's 44K has three times the PEA than Techron. They both work but for nasty buildups 44K is superior. I had a friend who owned a GM product years ago. The injectors on GM's back then were prone to clogging and repair shops and dealerships would recommend injector replacement. That costs a bunch. He had at least one clogged injector. I told him to run THREE bottles of Techron (easier to get than 44K) and run it til the tank gets close to empty. Sure enough, it cleaned it right out. PEA is the best additive out there.

How to get windshield washer fluid out of the system?

I wonder if time is a factor. You lasted 3 days with your first bottle. Maybe if you gave it few more days, it might have helped a bit more. Who knows?

Just put one can of this techron cleaner into my 16 years old car as preventive. Last year I put in 3M injector cleaner. Will do this annually.

Good if someone out there have a exhaust gas analyser that can measure ppm or % for Nox, CO, O2, CO2 and HC and vs an OBD2 able to read 02 sensor, rpm, throttle valve position MAF, MAP, SFTL and LFTL etc.

Take a set of reading, at hot idling rpm before adding these techron additives. After adding and running for 200 or 300miles do another test run. I guess if car exhaust is considered best if having 02 reading at 0.5 to 1.5% vs CO at <1000ppm vs HC at <1000ppm and CO2 at 14 to 15%.

OBD2 readings at hot idling rpm vs with reading when the car set on auto cruise for running at 2000rpm.

Would like to see the valves and injectors checked, i know thats a lot longer than pulling spark plugs, but the injectors are what my car needs cleaned and i just put techron in yesterday

That you saw any effect at all with two bottles surprises me. My experience is that additives are usually more of a placebo effect than actual effect. So, it may well be that running chevron’s tecron laced gas would actually do what they promise and prevent the carbon build up in the first place. So, thanks to your experiment I’m now more open to buying chevron gas. Thanks!

Says it cleans the fuel system, not the piston carbon.

It seems that he is comparing carbon cleanup, but these are designed for fuel system and injector cleaner which does not even test. It kind of invalidates the entire video.

Might be a coincidence but when I added it on my 2003 tahoe, I got the p0442 code 2-3 days later lol.

Just curious as to how you are driving the vehicles after adding the high concentrations of products.?? I have always heard running the vehicles above at/or above 2500 rpm for 15-20 minutes and as well as getting on it a few times within the 15-20 minutes of driving.

Maybe you have covered this. I do this everytime I add lucas deep clean or techron.

Test out Amsoil Powerfoam it supposed to clean your injectors,engine, and carb
