The irony here is that I just bought a used Vega 64 for a Hackintosh build....LOL. The use cases do exist!
ОтветитьVega is so futureproof is that it will stop receiving driver updates 2-3 years earlier than the 1080.
ОтветитьWell I got sapphire+ nitro vega 64 and i mostly play csgo on 4k and when playing in compi I get around 200 fps and over casual matches I get around 160 in avg fps with automatic high setting . And over uncharted legacy of thief’s I get around 40 fps over 4k and it’s damn smooth and playable without any lag . I guess if I play over 1080p monitor I would get the double fps of what I’m getting now . Tbh till now I’ve never removed the stickers which u get in card when u buy a brand new , it looks like I just bought it yesterday 😂 .
Ответитьfuck all these cards, the coolest cards ever are FURY and FURY X cards.
ОтветитьI wish AMD would have given HBM one more run. I really like my Vega 56, I like it so much, I just purchased another one.
ОтветитьHBCC actually seems to help with a SSD or just a PCI-e 3.0 M.2 drive. Games like The Last of Us Pt.1 and RE4 remake seems to enjoy the extra option VEGA offers.
ОтветитьAh yes, I remember it was going for 900 a pop, and sold out in minutes
Ответитьstill rocking my vega64 that I got during a mining crash where somebody sold it for next to nothing
ОтветитьI think it's worth pointing out that power efficiency went out the window after the 10 series for Nvidia...
ОтветитьYou know nothing John snow. Vega56 custom was the best product at the time with UV. A true best.
And thanks to the mining boom I just had to spend 100 euro to upgrade to a 6700XT.
in Russia, where I live, you can buy a vega 64 for 100$
and even a radeon VII for 150$
used video card market has never been better, despite the disappointment that is the latest gen of new cards
I'm back on my vega 56 whilst waiting for a second pump/res so that I can more easily troubleshoot my other cards. Have a 6900XT and I got an old 1080ti cheaply with a waterblock that I cleaned up and tested for shits and giggles and if I can't get the 6900XT sorted for games, it was only stable for CAD for some reason. Vega 56 watercooled and OCd is giving me 40fps average in Jedi Survivor at 3440x1440, but I need to get something better sorted before Starfield is here.
ОтветитьYes, it was.
ОтветитьY si a esa vega le haces un undervolt y rinde un 15% mejor le parte la madre mas lindo todabia a la 1080 basura esa
ОтветитьFunnily enough this video came out at about the same time I retired my Vega 64 for an RTX 3080. You could always get more out of it with some manual tuning, in both the efficiency and performance department, but if like most people you were just going to use it as is it did lag behind a bit. When I bought it what sold me was the game bundle plus a sale, I played the heck out of Division and RE2 remake making the add on actually an add on, and with the Arez Strix card it wasn't too jet engine like.
I was saying basically all this back then, with the huge memory bandwidth of HBM2 and the better compute performance it should stand the test of time better, even if that was all cope and I really was just angling for the slightly cheaper card with a few extra games, it turned out to be right in the end. I also had a ton of fun tweaking the card and the corresponding ryzen 1000 series CPU alongside it, but the death of my old monitor along with the fact that 1440p high refresh rate monitors became so cheap it became time to shelf it as a backup, and one day a relic.
I did, for giggles, end up with a second Vega based card by way of a very inexpensive Instict MI25, with bios swapped and functional cooling added it works. At the $75 I picked up that card at plus some other low cost bits I'd say there's still a place for vega in the machine of the budget minded person who's not afraid of a little modification.
I'm still using my vega 64
Ответитьbeen thinking about upgrading my rx 570 to a vega 64 because used they go for around 130-150, i dont know if i should though
ОтветитьI think you should add a graph without the 120+fps games. Because Nvidia always win where it doesnt matter and AMD wins where 5FPS os the difference between smooth and not.
ОтветитьSubbed. I like the content. Am using a Vega64 in my first build, 2nd rig first was budget Low end. Friend gave me his Vega and im building around/past it. Anyways can anyone explain why AMD, Intel, Nvidia are all located in Santa Clara lol😊
ОтветитьI Paid 170€ back in 2019/20 i think and it is since then a perfect card. Maybe i switch to an rx 6700xt.
Ответитьrn the vega 64 can be had for under 150$. that makes it the best budget gpu in my opinion
ОтветитьTell me you hate amd without telling me that you hate amd 🙂
ОтветитьI got Hogwarts Legacy to run at 60 fps at 1080p with RX Vega 64 and Ryzen 2700. It’s a very decent card.
ОтветитьEasy win for team red - if you had balls to sell it in 2021.
You could sell it for 800$ - because it had hashrate better then 3060.
Vega 64 hates resizable bar. Disabled, you would get better results. Also, To get the most out of the Vega 64, you had to undervolt to about 1v, reduce the GPU clocks to about 1500mHz, and pump up the memory clocks to 1100-1200mHz. Then the card really kicked butt. I have a video where I maxed out the frames in Doom using a Ryzen 1700 and Vega 64. It was impressive, and the best part, under 150watts! Basically, I used mining settings to run games.
Ответитьluv ya content mate! Hate ya intro musak!! Please do a poll to offer a few remixed options, I'm not a muso but I'm sure you have some followers who would remix it for free!
ОтветитьNo sir, You coming back to this test was very informative for me and made me change my mind on upgrading my GPU. I appreciate your benchmarks for both CPU and GPU's. Your benchmarks has helped make a decision on my CPU. I had the Ryzen 5 1600 for 5 years and I realized my CPU was actually bottlenecking my Asus Strix Vega 56. I replaced it a month ago to a Ryzen 7 5700x and wow huge difference on GPU usage. Playing Spiderman remaster(High Quality Settings) with my old CPU produce average framerates of about 65fps with lows at about 34fps with 70% GPU usage. I popped in my 5700x and seen a huge difference at 111Fps average and lows of 74fps. I also undervolt and overclock my GPU on both cases. The undervolt does amazing things with newer games. Conclusion I will keep the cash and wait for the RX 7800 xt or RX 7700 and see where I go from there. Brilliant sir.
Ответитьmy vega 64 is rock solid ! i just wish more test in depth about SAM BAR on it / it run so cool on air in my case that fan nearly never run and i am always under 70°c /
ОтветитьSame story as always. Don't buy on theoretical performance in a year or two. It is not likely to ever come. Buy the best for what currently exists. Future proofing is a fools errand.
ОтветитьIs nvidia slowing down their older hardware? Fells like AMD gets better as days goes by
ОтветитьI always wanted to try the Vega Cards and never got around to. Now that the Vega 64's are around 150€ used I'm really thinking about getting one for my 2nd PC (Lan Party Rig) just for the lols but not sure if there may be better options.
ОтветитьGtx 1080 released 1 year earlier (2016 vs 2017) than vega64 tho.
ОтветитьI almost forgot about vega 64
ОтветитьAhh yes the infamous vega 64..the card that you could heavy undervolt while overclocking it. What a legendary graphics card.
ОтветитьAll I remember was this card coming out over a year after the 1080/1080Ti and being a bit worse than a 1080 for the same price. I guess now it's basically even with a 1080 after 5 years of driver updates. "Fine wine" lmaoooo
Ответитьnot bad for $100 less on ebay :p
ОтветитьI still have my Sapphire Nitro+ RX Vega 64, it has been in service for the past 5 years and 10 months and it's keeping me going for quite some time yet <3
Ответитьi tohught it would be much worse
ОтветитьMy gtx1080 + 10100f + 32gb ram 2666 (b460) = Cyberpunk 2077 ultra avg 52fps in benchmark. All high = 62fps. Medium 79fps 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Ответитьwell, they add auto undervolting in the driver, why not test with that? the only good thing about vega was you can undervolt and overclock back than.
Ответить"There are better second hand deals."
I doubt that as I watch this video with my 200 CAD$ VEGA 64 LC :D
Actualmente las gráficas consumen mucho mas que una vega 64. se le criticó a AMD en ese tiempo, pero no era tan abismal la diferencia en consumo, tengo las dos GPUs yo prefiero la vega 64
ОтветитьI have exactly that AMD VEGA 64 card, albeit from MSI. It has exactly the same back plate, though with a dragon and MSI printed on it. Got it for €280,- end 2018. So about 3 years old now and quite happy with it. I like AMD drivers. Never had or have big problems with the card. Other than some bit of coil whine which was a first for me experiencing when I did. And 750W PSU did cause for crashes it seemed in the begin. Had coil whine on a 750W PSU (Seasonic), as well as an 1250W PSU (Corsair), but not on a 850W PSU (Seasonic). Also it seems to have gotten less over time, though could just as easily be that I just got more used to it. The blower fan actually wasn't as annoying as I expected. Though it is logically more audible. Or was actually, because I swapped the blow style cooler for a big heat sink from Ranjintek (Morpheus) and 2 Nautica fans. Don't know the exact type fan atm, but optimized for cool block. Which made the card as quite and cool as can be. Together with a 5950X my highest Time Spy score is 8468 points while having 60 degrees Celcius as absolute highest temp (twenty ish Celcius room temp), fans about 80%. Hotspot temp is way above, but that is known about this card. I do have to check my ventilation settings after each Readon update. Otherwise it sets it back a little lower and slower, and gets the card a higher temp.
ОтветитьI remember getting a Vega64 for £320 in 2019 when I believe it was somewhere like £600 for a 1080 and its lasted me easily until now. Only replacing it with an rtx 3070 most likely due to its lacking performance in some VR games.
ОтветитьProblem is. By the time the fine wine kicks in it’s irrelevant.
ОтветитьStill living with four and five year old Vega 64 and 1440p (I actually have 2 - an LC and a Nitro+ that I got cheap in the last mining dip, but lent the Nitro+ to my son, who still has it) till I can afford something else. And TBH they still do all I need them to.
Back when I was running both of them in Crossfire, I was getting about the same performance in Witcher 3 as a 2080Ti. But no - I wouldn't buy one now. But they've served me well for a pretty long time and continue to do so, so in that sense they've been pretty good value.
lol the vega 64 would be even better on linux, resizeable bar with the 2048bit buz and 8 gb of hbm it cooks i got vega56 and it performs like a 1080 on Linux
ОтветитьHonestly I got V64 in 2017 because I found it for MSRP (mining crazy). I wouldn't buy it today second hand but the more forward looking architecture is great for exactly that, it kept going strong into 2022. I am just not getting games that are having problems in 1440p (Also undervolting basically negated the efficiency problem. AMD must have had wild silicon variation considering the ridiculous voltage they set it up with)
ОтветитьWhy did you not compare with modern GPUs?
ОтветитьHBM2.... why noone use it today?
Ответить
