I already have a couple of bachelor's degrees and I don't need another degree. I'm thinking of going back to school to earn a certificate in the philosophy of religion. I don't need it for my career, but it is subject that I'm interested in and would like to learn more about. I could study this on my own, but I think a school setting will provide me with helpful feedback pertaining to my ideas.

Why are you the only one who came up with this idea? Lol 😅 I’ve been telling everyone this 😅

Hello, I’m back again haha. I left a comment on another video of yours years ago. But I just wanted to share that now I’m clearer on my career goal. Previously I shared being interested in environmental science just for the sake of learning. But I have realized that I have been really passionate about making sustainable/circular biomaterials. And actually working in the R&D of the materials/products. All of these require intensive education and training within the field. And with my social sciences degree almost no master’s program will accept me into a biotech related masters. I’ve gotten into a local university (it's going to be their first batch for this program) for human and environmental biology which can allow me to specialise in biotech for my masters. But it is a liberal arts program so it’ll have lots of humanities and social sciences courses tied in too. And, I’ll have to spend 4 years all over again for the second bachelors because of local education policies. And that does worry me, like I could be earning in the meantime. But I also feel like this is the only chance I’ll get to study another bachelor’s. I’d just be expected to grow up and move on once I’m past my thirties and I’d not be able to switch my field. For context I come from quite a conservative family.

I completed my bachelors degree this year but I am not happy with my overall GPA. I was not in the best place mentally during college either so I am not happy with my performance irrespective of my GPA. The country I finished my bachelors in does not pay very well for the field I have chosen. I wanted to apply for a masters degree next year but now I'm looking to apply for a second bachelors degree in the same field in a school in the USA where there is more potential in terms of salary and opportunities for my chosen field. What would you suggest?

This is a great video! just a thought, most of the internships here in the usa require you to be in school (usually enrolled in a specific major at a university). Lack of experience is a huge obstacle for a lot of people when trying to find a new job in a new career. I took 3 google certificates earlier this year and am now working on transitioning into another field from the one I studied in school.

So true, yeah ideally it can be a good option to transition to another career by having a part-time job in that new industry (if you have a full-time job in the industry you want to leave). This way you are learning, getting paid rather than paying, & have a chance to see if you actually enjoy the daily work 👍🏻 Being 32 years old, this is a really helpful video & gave me so much clarity. Thank you!!

Well. I agree. Mostly or almost.
Again. We are talking about non-regulated fields.
And that makes large sense.

In law or in finance if you reach certain career point, you are to be educated. (Or to know something and even to be taken on an internship)
And you will simply not understand things people suppose you to have known und explain to the others.

I liked the idea of internship and starting a business. But the other point here is that you won’t get a well-paid job, unless you have an honored and acknowledge degree.

Thank you for this video! Very helpful. One thing to note about internships is that most require you to be an undergraduate or graduate student (at least in the U.S.), so people end up pursuing another degree for that reason.

I found the best way to learn is learning by doing instead of going back to school. Even working as intern for a month is better than half year at school because of the intensity the complexity of real problems is far much better subject to learn.
