Just to explain. One day when my boys and I had gone on a hike we came back to our car battery completely dead cause I had left the lights on. It was a Sunday late afternoon in the mountains and everyone had gone home and we couldn't start the car. I got pretty desperate and told my boys to give me their AA batteries out of their Gameboys and tried to put them all together to give the battery more power. I was not successful however we borrowed a battery from a Mac truck and got the truck started and were able to make it home. However everyone gave me such a hard time but this guy proves it can be done.

I ran out of gas and left the ignition switch on. Turned on the emergency flashers. Raised up the back of my caravan with the expired tag. To hide the fact from local law enforcement. Hello, a lot of video using 21 Volt cordless drill battery to jump start a car.
I though it will charge the car battery first, but some video can be start right away after the jumper cables connected.
What's your though about this ?

I'm sorry but your videos are shyt, first off you fake the disasters because how could someone experience one every time they do a video in every video.. 2. you speed up the video feed and take the batteries and volt meter, etc away then it goes back to you going to ur car to start it not showing you hooking it up so your channel I used to like until I see it's all staged and scripted... Peace you lost a subscriber.

I am a bit surprised that worked. That short was about 20 amps for a few seconds - fine. Charging was like 10, make it 15, minutes at average 1.5 amps. So you just got like 0.4 Ah into the car battery. Even if you did it for longer, an AA battery only has 3 Ah in it.

Whole car battery? 70 Ah. IIRC typical cranking is 500A for 2 seconds, i.e. 0.3 Ah. But of course you probably tried to start two or three times, so you lost about 1Ah by the failed attempts.

Wait... that means your approach actually can work... sort of, but it is very narrow. If I were ever to do this, I would probably not use AA cells but C or D ones lying around, which do up to 10 Ah, and use a smaller series resistor if possible. The multimeter is actually important here so you know when to stop, i.e. when there are diminishing returns.

And of course, there is this fun property of batteries that a freshly charged battery - even just by a bit - can suddenly deliver much more current than one ending up in the same charging "percentage" by discharging. Probably has to do with which ions gathered near the electrodes. This means that my above math may be moot and just getting 0.1 Ah into the battery may already be enough to start.

Here's a useful trick, if you combine 10 AA batteries in a parallel connection, you can have a 1.5v power pack. Then by doing a series connection into the car battery with the power pack, the car can start immediately without waiting 10 minutes.

You should always turn off everything electrical before starting the car, such as windshield wipers.

I drilled out piece of broomstick and filled it with AA's for a homemade power cell for my portable speaker after the original battery quit holding a charge.

Eventually I just got a new one because I didn't want people to think I was on meth, but it actually worked great with that improvised fix.

you said connect positive to positive negative to negative , but when I look at your aa batteries , they are positive to negative , negative to positive connected, I assume you mean when connecting to the car battery you have to connect positive to positive , negative to negative???
