Carbon is also garbage in compression. The compressive strength is just from the resin.

Very good. During my second degree in manufacturing systems engineering in the early 80's (carbon fiber very new) and myself biking since age 14, I would like to add to the excellent comparisons some additional info. when considering a helmet purchase.
Polycarb is ok if looked after and for those who cannot afford better. However plastics can be severely affected by solvents. Our professor demonstrated such with disastrous consequences. As bikers in our case our plastic based helmets. Keep them well away from petrol (gas) contamination! It will change the strength characteristics to that of an eggshell under mild impact. The same goes for applying non approved stickers due to the glue compositions. Don't let your polycarbonate helmet fall off your bike onto hard ground, fiberglass et al will survive such as far as the strength goes. The latter is a bit subjective, but just an additional point.
Started with the scooter helmet (leather over cork) 😮, and been through open face to finally reach the flip up 20 years ago. Initially I think only BMW made them and I thought they were great as a touring rider, and they are. Anyway ride safe.

I remember buying my first motorcycle jacket and asked the guy what the difference between the leather and the synthetic jackets?

he looked me straight in the face without changing expression and said "about 75 feet". I got leather that day.

Just a thought. TT riders have the best of everything, helmets, leathers, protective equipment, and sadly die with astonishing frequency. The best preventative equipment is inside the visor and the right glove.

With the removable pads it’s also very good for first responders who want to move your head/neck as little as possible

This is the missing episode on YT, while most address the motor capacities, counter balance, etc. They all admit you will drop your bike at some point, at least once. And no one mentioned skin-sliding techniques. 😂

Looking at helmets after this video and even HJC and AGV which I thought were good brands have Thermoplastics and just "EPS" lining up to in the range up to €350. All ECE rated. So are you saying that ECE rating is not enough to keep us safe in a crash? Sounded like you basically placed ECE at the DOT level - i.e. something that cannot be trusted.

In UK we have SHARP test, who test all helmets and rate them... often the cheaper helmets are safer than the expensive ones - and polycarb can be safer than carbon fibre... look up 'SHARP helmet tests' they rate pretty much every helmet available.
