Loved that Swamp Thing part lol (hardcore DC comics fan over here). I've never experienced this type of "algae" before

I had a case of BGA in one of my aquariums, I increased the flow and changed my filter placement it all went away and hasn’t came back!

Great informative video! I did have issues with bga when I first set up my 9 gallon fluval flex! It kept appearing on my sand foreground! I actually saw one of my amanos eating it! It eventually went away shortly after I started dosing ferts! I haven’t seen it since! Looking forward to the next green spot algae video since I have just a few spots of it on my anubius nana petite! Thought the amanos and horned nerites would’ve taken care of it but nope! Haha

Thanks for this series on algae and how to deal with it. I've been using DIY Co2 as per your video from a while ago and it's made a massive difference to the plants that I'm growing in my first aquarium. Along with the growth of plants I also got a ton of green hair algae and some green spot algae. Water changes and scraping it off and suctioning it off has really helped. Thanks for all your work.

Stop calling it algae. It’s ok to be scientifically accurate. It’s a bacteria. Call it that.

Hi! Would doing the black out affect the plants and fish as well? Plants since they also need light to grow and fish cos wouldn't they miss me lol
I also have this cyano as well and currently figuring out ferts dosage and adjusting flow (any minor change I can do first before I resort to medicines).

"Ultra Life Blue Green Slime Remover". It does not harm fish and it works every time on slime algae. I wish I knew about it years ago.

For my the main reason is waterflow. I tested one tank with flow vs 1 tank without flow . after 1 week without flow the substrate (fine sand) Cyano patches grow day by day. After i put a flowpump in the tank after a view days the cyanos are completly removed !

Hello! I keep my acquarium during 2 years and I can’t get bga away. I’ve changed 3 different substrates. Now I have jbl neutral substrate. 😭 I have no3 about 5 mg/l now. And my test is saying that I have almost po4 = 0. Why do I have them? I have lot of co2, ph=6,8

I never do water changes and even have a filterless planted vase, with 0 cyanobacteria. I do have algae and test for phosphates and it's 0 unless I dose ferts. All low-tech, cheap lights. Never in my long experience in aquariums have had cyanobacteria.

great videos. I just wanted to add some points about using anti biotics.first when you use antibiotics you have to make sure to get rid of it because it can get toxic after two days.using activated charcoal and a huge water change helps with that.another point is that antibiotics will kill nitrifying bacteria too. so if you use anti biotics, after changing water and removing traces of the antibiotic, you have to cycle your tank again.

@oxon8871 - 04.10.2023 05:05

Careful with the antibiotics. You don't want them in the water system, and bacteria will evolve toward resistance.
