Sounds like shit
ОтветитьGnarly Kit🔥🔥🥁
ОтветитьDid Butch have a stroke. Like his mouth is sideways.
ОтветитьMuch respect for Butch however I really prefer actual acoustic drums.
ОтветитьSupporting Noel Gallagher?
ОтветитьWhat is the little box he’s using to change presets?
ОтветитьGreat to see an electronic kit on the series „Tour Kit roundown“ but tbh, this was to me a little bit too much a kind of „Roland commercial“ 🥴🤷🏻♂️
Ответить🔥LEGEND🔥 so band sounding oriented than just playing drums.
ОтветитьWould be cool to get some info on how to make “Butch Vig Drums” in Komplete to play well on a Roland TD Kit.
I have a td-27 and I love the butch gig library, I use it all the time but can’t seem to get it playable on the TD To a degree that feels ok enough to get a performance.
Great rig; enjoyed the tom setup.
ОтветитьCool dude, not a cool kit. But, I do get his point about cymbal bleed.
ОтветитьAnybody know what the small box with push it written on is ?
ОтветитьA real music legend.
Butch worked on some influential albums aside from his work with Garbage.
No no Good God No!
ОтветитьLove butch’s sensibilities but man I can’t believe he’s using the machine gun Roland triggering and some sounds. And I own a kit…. I’m triggering superior drummer 3 with mine but I do get it for this exact music since it’s mostly drum machine feeling and sounding stuff
ОтветитьTo each their own…. A legend in this case.
ОтветитьAt 4.15 ish…what latest update? What new sounds? I have 50x firmware 1.0. Roland notes for firmware 1.10 (January 2024) says nothing about new sounds.
ОтветитьYeah Nahh...give me real drums bro!
ОтветитьLove Garbage
ОтветитьThat new 2pc Roland hi-hat is indeed awesome, but beware the price tag if you're buying it a la carte...!
ОтветитьElectronic drums?Naaah...
ОтветитьFor me , is no sense, to use à electro Drum kit on live
Ответитьelectronic drums are garbage
ОтветитьOh, jeez. One of the best producer/drummers around extolling the virtues of all electroic drums on stage. How many more people will first learn how to play on plastic. Welcome to the 21st century.
Ответитьlike watching a kid playing at guitar center
ОтветитьSo refreshing to see Butch not only playing an electric kit live, but also building kits starting with the stock Roland samples. So many others use electronics sparingly and with all custom samples. As a local gigging drummer who recently started using the VAD-307 as my main kit, this will definitely lend some credibility. Thanks Butch!
ОтветитьButch Vig, Jesus loves you man! You are his beloved creation!
ОтветитьI was hoping for a kit rundown. I got a 15 minute Roland commercial.
ОтветитьThis is great thank you! I've used an old (circa 2000) TD-6 live and in rehearsals, and a similar era TD-12 which was awesome. My question is, to you have a replacement for everything in this kit, in the wings? Similarly to how a tech would help swap out a blown snare, do you have a backup SD card, kit brain, etc etc.? Thank you!
ОтветитьE-drums are one thing, but doing away with real cymbals, because they interfere with your singers singing in the live mix is CRAZY.
ОтветитьSweet kit-it probably sounds soo good direct to the PA. At some point I'm going to upgrade to digital hats/snare. 🤘 thanks for edrums rundown
ОтветитьButch Vig is the King Midas of the 90s. I can't afford a Roland kit like that, so I took an old Roland TD-6v module and made my own DIY conversion kit with my late 80's Mapex kit. The new Lemon brand of E-cymbals tho? Excellent! Almost as good as the Roland cymbals, but at a fraction of the price!
ОтветитьA far cry from the full rack of gear they had on stage 20+ years ago. Crazy!
ОтветитьButch should check out the DWe
ОтветитьWhat is the "little box" MIDI setting controller?
ОтветитьThank you Modern Drummer, for showing that electronic drums can be used for live gigs. Some of the comments here prove what I already know, there is a lot of sceptisism. I think mostly from people that haven't played on current (!) edrums. I have been playing electronic drums for more than 30 years and they have evolved massively (I now play a TD-50X as well). It is just a different instrument, just like a keyboard is different from an acoustic piano.
ОтветитьAwesome. Without Butch, Nirvana would have sounded like Garbage :)
ОтветитьStock Roland . Naaa Hard pass
ОтветитьLegend! Love all his work with Garbage!
ОтветитьMakes total sense for a producer/musician to do this. I usually dont like this fad of electronic kits with longer realistic wooden shells (I love the futuristic aesthetic of pad e kits like the EMerge or the DTXs), but he seems to be the kind of guy well aware of the logistic benefits.
ОтветитьNot very rock n roll. This is all about selling products, and not about great music.
ОтветитьPlaying with the e-cymbals too? No way. I guess it makes sense for Garbage’s style of music though.
ОтветитьIt's online so people just have to be negative without thinking. Shocking. So many people complaining about price and the influence this will have to make people play electronic drums. How much do you think the kits name player use cost??? This kit is probably a LOT cheaper. Just check out Danny Carey's brass snare. I didn't see anyone complaining about an $8000 snare drum on that video. Also, who cares if someone learns to play on an electric kit? It's another drummer in the world. Who cares what they play? I've toured with both acoustic and electronic and both work really well. A lot of those "acoustic" drummers you hear live are triggering sounds along with their acoustic set anyway. because it is easier to get a great sound that way. At the end of the day, that's what it is about.
Ответить" Oh thank you modern drummer for showing us such a "... shut up and play real drums this is nonesense .Acoustic drums are not a problem ever
ОтветитьWhat drumsticks does he use?
ОтветитьInteresting!
ОтветитьI read somewhere that he used to fill his toms with water for his acoustic drumkit, is it true?
ОтветитьI'd still have some real cymbals along with the electronic ones.
ОтветитьJust came back from the concert in Wiesbaden. Never heard a live act where the drum track is so processed - exactly like the album sounds. That's the positive thing. IMO the live performance must not sound exactly alike. The ringing of the cymbals still lacking MOJO for rock music. Even on the top end Roland kit.
ОтветитьLegend!!! what a genius
