Gosh this portrayal of Ron really reminds me of when I was a kid and thought “wow 14 year old boys are really the worst!” I felt like it was a distinctly bad year for them lol. Worse than the previous year and next. Or maybe around 15, but I remember it was like. 10th grade. So 14-16. Complete generalization I made back then, but this portrayal of Ron, who is obnoxious but not TOO bad, rings very true. 😆

I always appreciate it when people acknowledge the stuff with JK Rowling. ❤ So many people have blithely ignored or attacked people who had issues with others continuing to buy and support all things Harry Potter.

It does come down to personal choice, but publicly supporting something that is widely known to be controversial in one way or another DOES send a message, whether people want it to or not. It’s been fun revisiting some of these after feeling quite I’ll say unenthusiastic about them for a while.

And yes this is one of my favorite of the Harry Potter books and films, if not my favorite over all. ☺️

For someone who claims to be a feminist, JKR did Fleur so dirty in this book. I know there was cheating but Harry's 14 and he keeps beating her at everything. It'd have made more sense if Cedric couldn't do the mermaid thing and then he could have a connection with Pumpkin Pasties (which is a better name than Cho since that's a surname).

I mean iirc they have a lot of Ron's best ideas and observations to Hermione in the movies. In the books he was an accidental genius half the time.
