Why I Don't Vlog With Action Camera But Love Them!

Tbh I mostly use my action camera to vlog more discreet and am on the go , I got a Canon m50 I haven't use that in over 2 years

The OSMO Pocket 3 would have caught that Chicken & Onion Close Up 😂

I think actions camera are action shots and moments to capture without you really monitoring it. Different from a vlogging camera

Great video and love all the pointers to why a ZV is a good vlogging camera. I'm new to Vlogging, so using something like the action 4 with my DJI mics has been really helpful, especailly when out somewhere and not wanting to attract attention and learn to not care if people are looking. When I do reviews, that's when I pull my a7iv and record.

I'm not much of a public vlogger in the first place, but I want to be. Mostly do Broll and voice over which makes it easier for me. I have a Sony a7CII and normally rocking a 20mm F1.8 or 35mm F1.4 mostly. which makes it a pretty big setup. Makes it hard to be discreet with it if i do decide to vlog in public. I'm debating on the DJI osmo 3 to just get into vlogging more. But not sure if it's worth the investment.

i have the action one and 4 but still like the 4 I use it as a travel content creator because it focuses everything if I want to get some depth of field I can use my sony and or Iphone.

was that a return awhile ago of the Insta 360 Ace pro, and you're saying the pocket 3 is an action camera too.

Glad you brought up the original DJI Osmo Action. I have that one, the Action 2 and Insta360 Ace Pro. As much as I love the newer cameras, the original Osmo Action is still great.

I use a action cam to do my geocaching videos because i am jumping in and out a car or trudging through the woods. Now if i am walking around downtown i use the pocket 3.

I kind of get around the out of focus issue by using the dji selfie stick with the remote they came out with the action 2. What is awesome is the remote works with the action 4.

I've not been able to settle down on One camera whether it is the DJI action original, insta 360 go 2 or the canon g7x original or using my phone. I think action cameras are really handy for b-roll but for the actual vlogging if you have got the slightest bit of low light they lose quality. But even using the g7x I have people say that the picture just does not seem natural because it is so crisp, and that is without any filters activated. Problem with the Canon is you cannot use with an external mic so that is a downside. I would still end up having to use my phone or something connected to a mic to record decent audio

It's a shame you couldn't do vlogs with both you and Sara in them more often. Who would be nice to get to know you both as a couple

But a ZVe1 plus a lens is, for me, insane money, so action cameras rule in the woods

Do you ever get told to not film inside coffee shops/stores? The reason why I have been using my Osmo Action 4 more lately for vlogging is because of how small and discreet it is. I love the quality of my A7S III but man it's a big camera and I stand out like a sore thumb lol and have been told to not film in certain places. I agree about the focal lenght in action cameras though. You can't have them too close. Another great vlog brother!

I flew to NOLA end of last year and deliberately used the Pocket 3 to shoot 2 music videos because of how discreet it was, the artist and record label were happy with the results I got.

No question the ZV E1 is superior.. dope camera! I'm currently rockin my GoPro 10 with Rode wireless pro setup.. I like the compactness of it I can literally fit it in my pocket.

I do a lot of hiking and beforehand was using my mirror less camera but it's HUGE and was becoming a pain. It's always very interesting to see creators different setups. Great vid!

Funny you mentioned I also have a hero 4 black that i use to this day for "action" shots, shoot 4k color is decent i just wish it had stabilization. Its a good addition to the Pocket 3 and ZV1

Focal distance is a thing for sure. Action cameras are made for action. My Z6 is awesome. All the Nikon lenses are amazing. But the weight is a bit too much. I just can't spend the money on a new camera system. Take care, my ninja.

I just can't pull the trigger on the Ace Pro due it's un focused issue when trying to Vlog. It just doesn't have a clear focused picture!

I have a question for you Sky, when is the last time you recorded a vlog on your mobile phone and giving the current technology is getting better on mobile phones would you consider doing a vlog on mobile phone these days. If not why not? The super convenient and always with you and have fantastic cameras these days with some of them even being 8k

The food looks good SKY, and action cameras are not the best for vlogging 👍. Yes, I vlog with an action camera. Sometimes pocket 3 when it's not raining

If you dont mind it you can get adapters and diopters for super close focusing specially for the ace pro. Make art now makes a really good 3d printed diopter adapter

Is the 10-18mm lens an APSC? Or full frame F4?
