Which Gibson Les Paul Should I Get? 1958 Les Paul vs. 2019 Gibson Custom Shop

‘58 these aren’t available in large numbers, & if it sounds good, plays good it’s def a better buy than the ‘19 reissues which are an expensive but pretty available instrument.

I like both sounds but I prefer 2019 one because its 100 times cheaper then 58 😅

The 2019 sounds just a bit colder but great guitar non the less.

"Can't make new wood old" why doesn't gibson use old wood then? Some companies use 200 year old wine barrels for guitars! Also for the price I'd hope these are made with the older standard Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Not the leftover junk

In the Beginning of the video why you use different pick up position? That makes no sense. Nevertheless, they sound both exactly the same.

My Tokai Les Paul Custom, does the job tbh and is better than the expensive Gibson I sold, plus, if I drop it, it doesn't cost thousands.

The 1958 but not by much both are nice.

There was no shot heard around the world because origonally nobody really liked the les paul with humbuckers and its funny that intially everyone thought pafs were very muddy sounding and the guitar was a flop but as music changed and rock get heavier severL years later in the mid 60s and people discovered that a les paul with humbuckers would drive the amp harder then the patent sticker pickups that were in current 335s and and the sg at the time. So the shot heard around the world was delayed by a few years.

It's a redundant question. If you can afford the 58,you'd probably already have the reissue. Nobody is going to empty their bank account for a vintage guitar, but they will for a reissue. If you're in the market to buy the vintage LP, it's spare cash. The reissue, you saved for.

That was an awesome sequence at the end--whoever stitched the clips together did it flawlessly. Kudos. And I couldn't tell a difference in the sound between the vintage and the reproduction.

No difference to my ears at all either gibson is really good at recreating there vintage gear or those vintage guitars are just not all that my opinion

The 58 is a Bluesmonster,play blues on her dont play funk and u will be send in heaven

I can’t act like the 19 isn’t overall better with the clarity, but the fuzz of the 58 is so unique and funky sounding you can’t not love it.

Its obviously hard to tell for me witch one sounded better, however Mr Marty seemed happier playing on that piece of history.

I think both are awesome but in my opinion if you get the chance to get a reasonable price on a 58 les Paul u take it cuz that chance doesn’t come often. You’ll be able to get a 2019 custom shop forever

58. Has a deeper tone to it and more treble in my opinion

My heart tells me the 58 sounds better, my ears say they are both very close

Everybody is moaning about the pickup selector while I'm sitting here worrying about his damn buttons scratching all over those guitars.. Respect the guitars and wear a t-shirt!

Judging frome the licks at the end,when they were both on the bridge,the 58 was the best,custom was good but..... didn't sound as good as the PAF's

Gibson is a name brand product expecting buyers to buy for a name. Not worth the money. I bought an off brand LP for a fraction of the cost, changed out ALL the hardware and sounds better than Gibsons LP's in their upper bracket. $600 VS $2000. No brainer to me but people do need that LABEL to make it sound better. 😆😆😆😆
