I went there in 1990. Looks a lot better now. In a day we did not see a single woman on the street. Packs of dogs and very dodgy men wouod sniff around us. Thieves everywhere. We gave it 48 hours and left.

Peter please go to Bangkok/Pataya. I just moved back after two years and it’s such an interesting place but extremely hard to explain unless you’ve lived there a while. After a local got 50years this week for talking negatively about the king yet there’s a weed shop on every corner, police are corrupt and you can buy sex 24/7 it’s such a random society. Many deep rooted issues for the locals, but as expats it looks like everything works perfectly.

Napels has all the potential to become a European tourist hot spot however they really need to clean up their city. The amount of graffiti also shown in the video is insane and as a tourist you always have the feeling you must watch your step. Once Napels gets their act together it can rival with Rome Venice or Florence and easily beats Milan when it comes to beauty

Peter, thank you for your piece on Napoli. I stayed in Naples for a few days in 2018. I was on my way to Anzi in Basilicata to see my noni's commune. Like you my grandparents emigrated to the U.S. It was important for me to see, smell and taste where they came from. They sailed from Naples to get to the US. I found Napoli gritty, noisy, frantic and for some reason...I can't wait to go back. I learned the word....Potzo there and when to use it.
I spent twenty years doing TV production. Your story was spot on, guerilla style, documentary. Your content was excellent. Good job. Ciao, Dino

Not true! In Naples people of the upper class speak Neapolitan just like the others. And this happens in more than the half of the country (of course everyone speaks his own local language)

Yep those 'old school' Italians had no problem whatsoever with using aluminium until it almost fell apart. Same in France. Thank goodness inox has finally (only recently) replaced the aluminium pots.

My grandfather was a Mastella from Ceppaloni, moved out of Italy and moved to Philadelphia around 1911. Most of my siblings are still upset we weren't born over there. Thinking about what could've been. We recently visited benevento, and walked the same streets as my ancestors on the streets of San Giovanni di Ceppaloni.... Visited Naples and Rome

You have a nice attitude CONCERNING naples, surely could have FOUND a better presented guide to lift naples aspect. EVEN THE RICH, LOVE SPEAKING THE BEAITIFUL EXPRESSIVE IMAGE MAKING NEAPOLETAN LANGUAGE, WHAT A LOAD OF ROT ,THE REACH SPEAK ITALIAN BECAUSE ITS DENOTES HIGHER CLASS PEOPLE. FACETAMI STU PLEASE.MARIO FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE GOVERNMENT AND THE GREEDY NORTH DO SWEET F ALL TO IMPROVE THE CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTH TO IMPROVE WORK OPPORTUNITIES, IN ORDER TO STOP MIGRATION. I HAVE TRAVELLED THE WORLD I LIVE BOTH IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA AND NAPOLI, I HOPE THAT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT TO CREATE FANTASTIC FOOD AND WORLD FAMOUS MUSIC, THE ROOTS OF THE PEOPLE TO CREATE SUCH, MUST HAVE INTELLIGENCE AND RIGHTFUL MORAL ATTITUDE AND A ROMANTIC TRANSPARENT ATTITUDE...THESE ARE THE TRUE RICHES OF NEAPOLETANS. DO THE BEST WITH WHAT YOU HAVE.
