Only stupid people believe the GDP cannot be manipulated. The GDP is purely political. No one can audit this figure other than the gov. The gov wants to stay in power. Other countries cannot audit this figure. Many countries have corrupt leaders. So how can this figure be relied upon? A country can estimate the GDP of another country. Likewise investors. But there is no way to tell if the reported GDP has been manipulated by 0.1% or 0.5% because they don't have the actual data accurate to the exact. GDP is for fools. Most people in the world believe in the GDP because every leader in every country never tell you it's a fake report card. Every country colludes in this aspect by not exposing the other country

GDP is mainly a POLITICAL statistic. Technical recessions can be hidden from the people by manipulating the figure. Yet the whole year GDP can remain the same. Eg. 4 quarter Actual gdp : 0.1%, -0.1%, -0.1%, 0.1%. This can be reported as 0.1%, -0.1%, 0.1%, -0.1%. the whole year GDP remains the same but this corrupt country avoided reporting a technical recession
