Mind Blowing High End Speakers. The amazing line source Wisdom L8i

I auditioned Wisdom Audio P4m/i speakers (with ATM ribbon tweeters) at $2,500 each. I loved the vocalists and cymbals on it even more than the $90k-$300k Wilson Audio speakers that have dome tweeters (their dome sounds more powerful but they didn't sound better for vocalists and cymbals). I didn't want to spend that much but I now had a goal (sound quality that I liked).

I discovered that the $950 each GoldenEars BRX with the ATM ribbon tweeters sounded the same as the $2500/each Wisdom Audio at 75% less. And so my search for speakers ended because it matched my goal (the sound quality I heard with the Wisdom Audio).

These marketing graphics from the manufacturers are really ridiculous. Comparing a line source with a point source in this way is simply ridiculous.
I don't want to talk bad about the product. It's just that these oversimplified marketing graphics are crappy.

I not long ago heard a demo of a Wisdom Audio speakers theater and it was probably the best I’ve ever heard. Made me wish I had the money to immediately buy them.😂

So….you can ONLY get immersive sound with line source speakers? (quoting you)

And if you have a room with multiple rows, good sound “not gonna happen”? (quoting you)

And there’s a difference between a line array (as used at concerts/auditoriums) and a line source (some, not all, of Wisdom Audio’s models). Line arrays are most often stacked point source speakers.

It's unfortunate I live on the other side of the world (Sweden) otherwise I would have visited your fantastic Wisdom demo theater.
Anyway, just wanted to say I have been running L8i as LCR for a while now and it is a really great speaker.

He said 'Martin Logan'. Yes, their 'XW' series have been out for some time now. I have one of their electrostatics from the Masterpiece series. LOVE that it is a line source AND dipole at the same time. (O: Thanks for pointing out the advantages of this type of speaker design here in your video presentation.

I can only imagine how accurate those speakers sound when paired with the right gear and material. That's a set-up that only a special few in the "Caviar Class" can afford. Maybe there is a DIY way to achieve something close for those of us without ultra deep pockets. I hope you fine folks at HTE keep giving us something to strive for and the tech tips you have so generously been helping us with. Thank you and all the very best.
