Stadium architects are terrible these days. Archibald Leitch would be so disappointed. As usual, the new stand is a copy of the older new stand beside it. Liverpool are the same. Every stand should be different. Everton leaving Goodison Park is a travesty. A soulless bowl identical to Espanyol’s stadium.

EMULATING THE GREAT PRESTON NORTH END CLUB NINE YEARS BEFORE ALSO 1896 QUEEN VICTORIA WAS 60 YEARS AS QUEEN DONT FORGET IN THE LATTER HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY THEY ONLY HAD MANPOWER & HORSEPOWER TOO BUILD NOT LIKE TO DAY S CONSTRUCTION MARVELS VILLA PARK WAS CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OLD IN 1996/1997 SEASON ITLL BE 129 YRS OLD IN 2024 THE CLUBS 150TH YEAR! VILLA PARK HOUSED WAR MATERIALS IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR IT WAS NEVER BOMBED THE QUEEN (RIP) IN 1953 HER CORONATION YEAR LATER CAME TOO VILLA PARK FOR A FESTIVAL AND OFF COURSE VILLA PARK HOSTED THE THREE GROUP MATCHES IN THE 1966 WORLD CUP FINALS ARGENTINA /SPAIN/WEST GERMANY PLAYED THERE THE ORGINAL WITTON LANE STAND WHICH STOOD FROM 1897 TOO 1965 HAD UNFORTUNATLY WAS DEMOLISHED FOR A NEW SINGLE STAND FOR THE 1966 WORLD CUP FINALS THAT ORGINAL WITTON LANE STAND HOUSED THE TROPHIES VILLA WON IN THE 19TH & EARLY 20 TH CENTURIES ME & DAD USED TOO STAND AT THE OPEN ENDED HILL AT THE WITTON END IT WAS A BIG HILL I REMEMBER AND A HAD ALOT OFF TOPSOIL GRASS AT THE TOP THE ORGINAL WITTON END TERRACING MADE ITS WAY DOWN TOO THE FRONT WHERE THERE WAS A CONCRETE LIKE MOAT & ON TOP WAS THE SURROUNDING SPIKE RAILINGS WHICH YOU COULDNT GET UP TOO CLIMB & GET UP ON TOO THE RUNNING TRACK SURROUND AROUND THE PLAYING PITCH HOW MANY VILLA FANS REMEMBER THAT? 50,000 capacity won't be big enough, especially with 35,000 on the season ticket waiting list and we have just qualified for Europe.

They also gonna make extra stand at the back of Doug Ellis stand and curve it around to North stand and Holte End

I prefer the former club crest which has Aston Villa on it rather than AVFC.

As a Man Utd fan I have always enjoyed going to villa park since the 80s. Some great memories there especially in semi finals. It’s a great ground.

Brand new stadiums such as Tottenham are really impressive but they lose the soul of the ground whereas grounds like Villa Park and Anfield in remaining with the heritage and history of the clubs. I can't wait to see the finished article.

If I were asked to rename the redeveloped North Stand, I would suggest George Ramsay Stand. He was not only the man who established Villa, but the Football League as well. It'll be a fitting belated honour for him.

First went to st Andrews blues ground around 67 , but used to watch villa following week , when they played at villa park , always preferred going to villa park , last there in this 80s

I attended 5 matches at Villa Park between July of 1966 and May of 1967 Including both the FA Cup semi final (Chelsea v Leeds) and World Cup group stage (Germany v Argentina). My family emigrated to California subsequently. Great memories.

Aston Villa's Villa park stadium should be at least a 60K capacity.

All the stadium needs is 4 quadrants to link all the stands together to justify the capacity cos since Ron Saunders days they've underperformed as a Club that effected the City!

I've been going to my beloved Villa Park since about 1970 aged 7, I love this ground and still get a buzz when I get Inside. One of the best grounds in the World by far ❤

Shame for the city ,a city ,second populated in UK has a stadium with a capacity less than monchegladback stadium in germany.

We should bring back proper terracing and r store the Holte to it's former glory. I first went to VP as a little kid in late 60's (season we got relegated to D3 actually). It was incredible. The Witton End (when did it become the North End?) was a huge bank of open terracing. The floodlights spelt AV and the Holte was so big you couldn't see the back of it. I stood on the Holte from mid 70s through to its demise. Football grounds are just not the same without terracing. Shame. That said VP is still one of the best, most atmospheric grounds in the country. Long may it continue.

I worked at this ground putting the cables in for Sky in 2003 and we used to dig at the Aston hotel what was run by a lovely Irish lady..One morning we couldn’t leave the hotel for work because someone had been shot and killed in the car park 😮...It’s a crackin stadium is villa

Need to close those corners in at the Holte End, the wind howls through and it's sodding freezing.

I remember when the existing North Stand was built in the late 1970's, it replaced an open terrace accessed from steps behind - that was in itself an exciting development - this is of a different order. Like many who have commented the the new North Stand will enhance the stadium whilst maintaining the authentic feel of a traditional football ground, Rather like the current development at Anfield. Well done "the Villa". The video by the way is fantastic, really brings the whole thing to life. Thanks

Seems like the lower tier of North Stand is going to be retained while the rest is built and completed. Should mean capacity may be temporarily reduced to 40000 or minimum 39000.
