yeah for all people, it will not have a manual transmission, the concept of this car is a highly efficient sport car.... and yeah there is no transmission in this, it's direct drive. which is kinda of strange when you think about it, but make sense for efficiency.

No manual, no buy. Seems small, but it's how many think. Many including myself won't even consider giving it a solid chance if the option isn't there.

A lot of you all here are really stuck in your own nostalgic feels. I owned a 89 Si 5 speed and it's still one of my favorite cars. There are also folks like the lady who posted recently in a Honda Prelude group on Facebook taking a photo with her 1990 Si she bought new and still owns today in front of her local Honda Dealership. She was so proud of her Prelude still running on the original AUTOMATIC transmission. Just because a lot of us love manual, that doesn't mean Honda needs to put one in this car. Manual drivers a niche in the market now and there are plenty of potential buyers who simply won't care that it isn't a manual. We are going to have to accept that this change is happening and will continue to happen.

I currently daily a 2014 MX-5 6MT and I love it to death. Recently I had to borrow my friends SUV to move some larger items and I was reminded how nice having an automatic in traffic was. It was so relaxing. If i can have that with the ability to change to a more dynamic driving mode when I want it, I'm fine with it not having a traditional transmission.

My 2024 Integra Aspec CVT act this way about changing the ratio but the ratio is less fun compared at this small NSX.
Brembo caliper looing good, Type R and NSX into a Prelude lol.
The fake sound of the NSX configuration sound good and this eCVT configuration would help to be a 200ch fun car. Acura RSX looking good so far. Hybrid or 1.5T or 2.0T can do. SH-AWD would be nice but maybe never a reality.
RIP NSX

i wonder if both powertrains will work exclusively on the front axle, it would be huge for traction control if the electric powertrain could deliver power individually to each rear wheel, but on a second thought, it would be a feature probably reserved for a higher end car, rather, simple delivery of power to the rear wheels using exclusiveley the electric system could be a good way to achieve awd without having to redesign the fwd transmission

Honda new gen hybrids havent had the delay for years now. The are driven by a direct drive electric motor that makes roughly 160hp and 230ft/lb. The engine drives a generator that sends energy to the motor and the battery. Any "shifting" you feel is artificial. The engine changes revs to give you the sense of running through gears but in reality its just spinning a generator. The engine can couple to the wheels via a clutch and a geartrain, giving you a drive ratio similar to a final gear in a typical transmission. The engine coupling only occurs over roughly 40mph and at certain driving conditions (sustained speed and moderate accel/decel).

I will be very happily keeping my 3.5 liter V6 9th gen Accord coupe and I will wave as I pass by every single new Honda vehicle on the road or pretty much every new vehicle on the road lol 👋😂🤭

just watched a video of the 25 Tokyo auto salon and I see why Japan is not making any great cars because they are re-engineering nissian skyline R32 R33 R34 and supra's with 2jzdett motors and Nissan and Honda have to merge because no one wants to buy .....my money is going from a 17 acord v6 coup ... to gen 4 coyote Mustang GT 5.0 with twinn 90mm throttle bodies. That used to be a thing in my Nissan 240sx that only had one throttle body in the Ka2.4 I had when i was 27 and 4inch exhaust from Apexi or 3.5 from greddy.

It's a very pretty car, but there are still things that shock me. There's an obvious disharmony between the front and rear seats. On the other hand, I hope the dashboard will be changed and made more modern and sleeker, like the bodywork. It's not a question of mixing everything up: the Prelude and the Civic must be different and each has its own identity, not just on the outside !!

I don't think I'm swapping my '97 Type SH for this car. But if they put basically the same drive line from the Civic Si in this, I might consider it. I bought my Prelude specifically because I wanted a stick.

Also, there's so much fun to be had with a high redline. I'm really drawn to the GR86 because it, like my '97, revs to over 7,000. One reason people still talk about the AP1 S2k because it revs to 9,000. The C30 and K20 are legendary and also rev to the freaking moon. They don't make fizzy engines anymore, and it's really a shame.

All of the cool and sporty features that we see here will be reserved for the “type-R” or Si model. The majority of these Preludes that we will see on the road will be hollowed out based models that won’t be any more special than a base Civic.

The fake shifts get worse fuel economy and slower acceleration in exchange for "feel". Good job! Honda, at least give the driver the option to turn them off. It would take about one line of code.
