Izzard is funny. But I spent a few weeks one year ploughing through his every show (about 7/8 at that point) as I’d never really paid him any attention, and people in my ken were raving about him. My conclusion is that he has some killer material for a couple of shows, at most, and then he just starts repeating himself. There is no real progression or variation. Part of the reason, I suspect, for his learning multiple languages (aside from just bragging about this and boring on to the rest of us about it - for a large part of people learning foreign languages is the brag-factor and the intellectual one-upmanship), was that he knew he can’t get away with battering through more or less the same sh*t in English every 3 years.

Before i die, if i can ever teach my soon to be 1 year old nephew any of these lines i will have succeded

Eddie is a genius. Difficult to express how much his comic talent has meant to me through my life and been with me through bad times and good. Dress to kill is my all time favourite show by him!
