The Russian Revolution was a social upheaval that unfolded in Russia during the reign of Nicholas II. It had key moments and characters, such as the Bloody Sunday massacre, which sparked the failed Russian Revolution of 1905, and the establishment of the Dumas, ultimately allowing for citizen participation, the participation of Leon Trotsky and Alexander Kerensky. Other significant events included the death of Rasputin, a monk who wielded significant influence over Tsar Nicholas and Tsarina Alix, and the societal explosion during the February and October Revolutions of 1917, which resulted in Lenin's rise to power and the downfall of the Romanov dynasty and the Russian Empire as it was previously known which lead to the creation of the Soviet Union.
