All nice and dandy until you have to argue with your wife.

If Aristotle indeed said that man is a rational animal, he would have used the word ἄνθρωπος, which refers to both men and women if I understand correctly. Not to deny sexism in his works however.

Can't the Barber just shave everyone then quit? Then the next person in line to be the Barber shaves him.

I have a question/comment about the thing with the barber. I do understand that he must be a part of the group of guys who shave themselves or guys who dont, but neither of those exclude himfrom being the barber, and since the barber cannot shave people who shave themselves, he cannot shave himself, because then the barber would be shaving someone who shaves themselves. However, if he were to not shave himself, then the barber would have failed to comply to the law that he must shave every man who does not shave themselves. So he can't shave himself, but he also can't not shave himself, so he must become exempt to these 2 laws, so he is not part of the group.

My argument is as follows: Aristotle is not sexist as he was a produce and child of his ERA, Society, Time, Norms, Knowledge, etc..
So implying that he was sexist because he said man is a rational animal is a fallacy. Actually the true argument here is that Man/Human/Person was never an animal but always a separate independant specie of creatures that evolved till we reached the Homosapiens and the rest is history.
Humans are living creatures, Animals are Living creatures, but Humans are not animals.

Let's say you are arguing from the perspective of a collective. Would it be logical to say that, if emotions influenced each other in a group, that morality is then an objective thing?

Vice versa, if you are arguing from the perspective of an individual. Would it be logical to say that, if your own emotions influenced only yourself, that morality is then subjective?

In conclusion, therefore, if the answer to both of these questions is yes, then morality is completely relative.

How did I do?

So the Baber can only shave himself one time and if the first time. If the 2nd states "barber must not shave any man who does shave himself", then the barber is not consider a man that shaves himself yet if hasn't shaved before. He us only consider a man that shaved before after the shaving. So therefore, he can only shave himself if its first and only time. After that he can't. lol idk I'm just theoretically speaking.

Tripartite soul split in 3

Rational logical - seek truth and swayed by facts and arguments

Spirited/ emotional - how feelings fuel your actions

Appetitive/ physical desires - drives you to eat have sex and protect yourself

An argument

Your beliefs should always be backed up by reasons which are called premises

Premises - support the structure

Premises form the structure of your argument.
They offer evidence for your belief, and you can have as many premises as you like, as long as they support your conclusion, which is the thing that you actually believe.

Deductive - if your premises are true then your conclusion must be true
Premise 1 all humans are mortal
Premise 2 Socrates is a human
Conclusion : Socrates is mortal
Entailment - one fact leads to another.

Begins with the general then reasons down to the specific. The truth of the premise must lead to the truth of the conclusion when this happens then the argument is valid no way the conclusion can be false when the premise are true .

Validity is not the same as the truth.
Validity= if the premises are true then your conclusion can't be false
If your premises don't guarantee the truth of your conclusion then you can end up in a stupid argument

Deductive soundness
Validity + all true premises

Must people just want to be heard and when you ask questions that's a testimony that you were listening and is willing to learn because it's hard to understand experience and it's even harder to explain it so don't plz people don't say someone is dumb because you think you know more you just havent gone through what the individual has

Well , history shows that humans are not always “ rational “ , mostly aggressive apes , their actions are mostly selfish and destructive.

Religions are another sick area that people made up to make themselves look and sound better than others , and to prove it they often fight and kill each other !
