'Civic Pride Proclaimed': Leeds Town Hall, 1858-2022

As Leeds Town Hall and it wonderful organ are undergoing a major programme of renovation and remodelling, this lecture looks at the history of this remarkable building and its evolving use to the present day.

This lecture includes a special Q&A including Darren Potter of Leeds City Council answering questions on the current refurbishment project.

Dr Kevin Grady is a leading expert on the history and development of Leeds, and is well known for his books and public lectures. He was Director of Leeds Civic Trust for almost thirty years until his retirement in 2016. Today he is a Council member of the Thoresby Society and is President of the Leeds Library. This is his 15th annual series of free lunchtime lectures about the history of Leeds, presented this year on Zoom.
