What if the job description clearly states the salary range? If you state a salary expectation of 10-12% below, does that cover you?
ОтветитьAny range should be small so that they can see that you're not just in it for the money. I would say 23/24 an hour is my range etc.
ОтветитьWhat about if this question is already in the job application “Our preferred salary range is $85-100k - is that within your target?” How should I answered?
ОтветитьHey, I live in Cleveland too!
ОтветитьSir In second interview the employer discussion only about company policy and salary discussion when interview it really positive way or negative way. And employer say at last minute the interview I will contact next week. I use sir your tactics and I see on good smile at the interviewer.
ОтветитьGOOD VERY GOOD
ОтветитьI had one recently where they didnt provide the salary range but aske me what my expectations. I gave them a range where I was comfortable with .
ОтветитьImagine going to an auto dealer. After you tell him which car you want he asks, "what amount of monthly payments you can afford." If you low ball he tells you he will only show you lower priced models. If he accepts your monthly payment amount, that becomes the only amount he will accept. The only negotiating is length of term and interest rate. OR, you could shop a dealer who shows sticker prices. Why don't companies include the pay range in the job posting?
ОтветитьMost employers don't put per hour rate and those who do is so low that hard to consider
ОтветитьDon, I’m interviewing for a job with my local government. The advertised salary range is 20K less than what I make now. Anything that could get them to move out of the range or am I wasting my time?
ОтветитьThe problem I have with a salary range is that they will always lowball. In the example Don gave, if a person is making $80k, he can suggest a range from $75k-$95k. Well no employer is going to jump at the opportunity to offer $95k, so isn't it a poor negotiating starting point to volunteer a low figure? Moreover, isn't it rather absurd of a company to cut off a candidate if the estimated salary figure he suggests is more than the company is willing to pay before there has even been any discussion between the two parties? What I have done in my job applications is to suggest a figure that is moderately higher than the industry "median" for my level of qualification & experience but then emphasize that the salary figure is both a) an estimate (could be lower OR higher) and b) negotiable after determining the level of responsibility that would be assigned to me through discussion of my application in an interview.
ОтветитьSo i just left my 2nd round interview and met with the executive director. He asked me if i talked salary yet. I haven't so he said I'd have to talk to so and so (kind of said it to the hiring manager). Didn't get the job offer yet. Do i email the hiring manager for the contact to HR or do i wait to hear back from them?
ОтветитьI’m also from Cleveland Ohio! Hi! :)
ОтветитьJust establish what your personal minimum is and what will make you happy. Stop trying to max yourself out. If you try to say it depends on this you will likely be understood as someone who is just looking for the most they can get regardless of their value.
ОтветитьThanks for this
ОтветитьHi Don, have you talked about "what's your current salary" question in any of your videos?
ОтветитьI've been at my job for 2 plus years with no raise. They pay well but not enough to stay. When I get the salary range question from phone screens, I don't heat back. I'm sure there can be other factors as to no next step being offered but I don't want to take a pay cut if I don't have to.
ОтветитьI wish more companies would put their salary range in the job posting. If the salary is less than I can afford, I won’t waste my or the company’s time.
