Beautiful story
ОтветитьThanks for the story. I found it very interesting and informative. I subscribed because I hope I can possibly learn some tricks from you. This highly detailed carving is what satisfies me very much.
ОтветитьI've watched this video so many times now I can almost talk along with Dave.
ОтветитьI have no idea how this ended up on my recommended, but it was a decent watch. I'm honestly not surprised by Ito's demeanor. This is quite common with old Japanese men whom are a master of some craft or another.
ОтветитьBeautiful story and it definitely needed to be told and preserved
ОтветитьHomeboy is the Bob Ross of the carving world. One of the few people that really chill me out just by talking. I'm glad I found this channel.
ОтветитьGreat story thanks.
ОтветитьThe whole video was the good part!!!
ОтветитьBeautiful
Ответить..thank you for such a wonderful part of your life
ОтветитьRespect
Ответитьsuper lovely story with energy of intrepid teacher
ОтветитьI have watched a lot of videos regarding Japanese craftsmen at the highest level. From potters, wood carvers, bow makers and even cast iron T pots, and of course the Samurai sword makers. They seem to combine their craft with a spiritual and ritual elements. Not something I have seen in any other culture. They seem reluctant to change their craft and adopt labour and time saving technology, just using the slow and methodical methods they were taught when young. The level they attain can be outstanding as shown in this video. I have no doubt these masters will fade away as time goes by, but we should savour the ones we still have and the ones we have saved on film.
ОтветитьYou are the Bob Ross of wood carving. God bless
ОтветитьThis video came out of nowhere, it's been amazing to watch.
ОтветитьJust subbed. Have no clue about any of this but i appreciate people with great skills and u dave have tremendous skills & patience.
ОтветитьThank you.
Good work.
This is like relaxing with Bob Ross and is super interesting! Subbed. Glad this popped up.
ОтветитьSuper informative. Have always been fascinated by the Western Master printers -ie. Durer, Dore, etc., but never really explored the Japanese tradition. Will definitely continue down this rabbit hole awhile I think.
As side note I have been going through a pretty brutal creative dry spell for some time now-resulting mainly from personal issues which I won't get into- and I can't say why exactly but this video has given me a little motivation to start seriously working again. Much appreciated.
Thank you for making this video. So heartwarming to see you honoring the memories of a great craftsman. The respect you give to others is truly inspiring. You have earned mine. You are a true gentleman.
ОтветитьCanadian plus Japanese, makes a Dutch accent.
ОтветитьAbsolutely fascinating to listen to!
ОтветитьThis is an amazing story for anyone to listen to, it’s inspiring and interesting as if it was written by a radio show host such as the moth radio or NPR. Your rambling and tangents were just right to keep me involved. This is masters class story telling
ОтветитьI've been here before, the thumbnail vaguely brought back the memories. Probably thumbnail with the name too.
Ответитьthis has the same feel as a bob ross video. a man with a passion to make his craft and to better it at all time. you have the true sprite of this craft in you and it is pleasant to listen to your story and to see just how much you respect this craft. i had no idea what this video was when i clicked on it but i am sure happy i had found it.
Ответитьthank you! loved watching your twitch stream today
ОтветитьThank you David for sharing such an inspiring story, it is the equivalent of one of those amazing prints 😊
ОтветитьWow. I clicked out of curiosity and was hooked within the first 30 seconds. What an ability to tell a story. Very interesting.
ОтветитьI found myself here after watching the wood carving episode of Sakura Quest because i wanted to learn more. This craft is really pretty and cool.
ОтветитьI greatly doubt you'll see this, but if you do, the museum you mentioned, where Ito-san's tools were taken, is it still around? I wanna visit Japan one day and Id really like to go see it if possible.
ОтветитьWell done sir...,
ОтветитьCut that hair
ОтветитьThis is a wonderful story. I’ve had mentors but nothing as memorable as yours. Not diminishing my memories but Japan has always been a dream of mine
ОтветитьThis is probably my third or fourth time listening to this all the way through but I hadn’t seen it in a good year or two.. wanted to see if it would make me cry like every time before. It has in fact made me cry more than any time before… your passion for this art is inspiring and your respect and admiration for Ito is endearing. Thank you so much Dave, for making this, and every other video you have along the way.
ОтветитьI don't know how many times I've watched this video, it always ends too soon.
ОтветитьProbably one of the most interesting and beautiful things I’ve ever watched
ОтветитьListening to this captivating story again, I realise that maybe most of us would never have found David if it wasn't for the producer, both helping with meeting Ito-san and gifting the tape.
ОтветитьI hope you've digitally preserved those VHS tapes.
ОтветитьDavid: "This has gone on far too long..." Me: "Nooo, it hasn't!" Great video, thanks!.
ОтветитьI have been seeing this channel around for awhile now and this was my first video. Immediate sub. Thank you for such interesting content!
ОтветитьDavid, your voice and vocation helped me find calm during the unendurable chaos of COVID. Now, your artistry is a source of wisdom & strength as I pursue my own creative journey. Thank you, for being YOU 🙏💙
ОтветитьReally loved this story. Thank you.
ОтветитьI wish I could like a video multiple times. You are such a great storyteller. Every few years I watch this again.
ОтветитьThis WILL be Pewdiepie
ОтветитьI watched 3 times this mini doc. after years of not watching.
every time i watched it's gets better
Beautiful!
Ответитьwell.. I really didn't expect to be humbled like this. I found this channel while reading DK publishing's book "How Art Works".
ОтветитьDon’t you have any back pain or some muscle issues since you have to sit in that posture for long? Or you excercise regularly?
ОтветитьWho is still watching this video in 2024?
