Dark hand gives an amount of humanity dependant on which npc it’s used on. I think the amounts can give a clue to the person, Solaire has 5, a middling amount and he goes hollow. Rhea 12, that’s the most I found. Interestingly dmnhall has 0, he is seemingly devoid of humanity. Logan is another with zero, maybe worn too thin after a long life.

This is why I like Dark Souls 1. It has quite a few tricksters and a lot of lore for about every character. DS1 has the best lore out of the trilogy. DS2 and DS3(and also Demon’s Souls) lore couldn’t ever hold a candle compared to DS1’s lore. This is me saying this as someone that likes all the lore of 3(4) games

Ive played this game. Dark Souls. For what seemingly is thousands of hours on different consoles. Why am i just now discovering you can get to this guy under the bridge by going up and dropping down? Ive always and only known gitting good at run jumping and crossing the gap at the bottom....😮

During the talk about mimics midway I realized something about Domhnall's helm, when the mimic grabs you it pulls you in head first, perhaps the horns on the top of the helm are more about protecting from this then any blade.

I killed Logan. I thought I had to, to get a ring but it was the other guy in yellow/gold 😳🤦🏽‍♂️😭 I also killed the 3 soldiers and the woman. I hit one by accident & had no other choice.

Even after recruiting Domhnall he doesnt reside in firelink shrine. He stays underneath a bridge, very deadly to get into, even deadlier to get out of. It is clear that he does not want to get found. But maybe, overvalueing his collection that much, he sells part of his collection to keep the rest of it safe. "Whoever buys this surely will die just like the original owner, then I can reclaim my prize."

I thought maybe the fact he was dressed as a Spirit Halloween Loki would tip people off to him being not the best of people, but I guess not.

What I love the most about this character is that he is TEACHING YOU HOW TO PLAY THE GAME. If there was no wiki to go to, it would take a really good fucking player "a world ruler" who is able to explore the world well enough to find him under the bridge. And I'm telling you I would have never in a million years would have been able to find him. Now only is he hard to spot, but also quite tricky to even get to him. I bet most of us fell a few times getting there. Never did I think to take a fall from atop the hill. It costs some health but it seems safer. So it must take guts to even get to him as well, because he will only tell you things if you've proven yourself worthy of his advice by putting your souls where your mouth is. It could be that he is not strong enough to kill the bosses himself, but he is able to traverse the lands freely and is familiar with the world. In selling us the plundered loot we prove that we aren't running around doing crazy stunts getting to him on an empty wallet. It would mean nothing to us if we lose 2k souls (or whatever the minimum amount of souls are required to trigger the tips). So we the player are proving our worth and our brilliance in exploring the world while fully blind. It's amazing how well the "tutorial" for the game is so well placed and it perfectly fits in the narrative of the game, this game is hard and you will die. That's why I believe Miyazaki was so happy that this kind of character can be placed anywhere seemlesly. I'm glad we are able to share information with everyone lol I would still be at firelink.

The original Dark Souls has an infinite supply of stories that you can pull together if you look closely, yet the game does not require that the player actually line the dots for it being a masterpiece, it's still optional to get to the bottom of this if you want. If this is not the best game ever created, then I don't know what it is.

Domhnal never requires help like Logan or Laurentius. So that judgment of his nature as conniving is kind of dubious in my opinion.

I'm fluent in Welsh and didn't realise that "siwmae" is supposed to be "s'mae" until you pointed it out.
An interesting note is that "s'mae" is very colloquial, being a contraction of "sut mae", or "how is it", possibly this is true of "siwmae" too.

I don't think waiting to see if someone is a good partner/stays alive before sharing precious information is cold, it's pragmatic, non trusting sure but I wouldn't say cold.

There's always the possibility that you'll just betray Domhnall and kill him, steal his things, in a realistic world that could happen, I think Domhnall is wary and doesn't want to give help to every random person, once you've earned his trust then he talks.
