Unpopular opinion but this seemed like a one sided friendship to me. Monica was an amazing friend to Rachel, while Rachel was a ‘meh’ friend to Monica.

Also Monica was very good friend to Phoebe, while Phoebe was often horrible to her.

It was telling that Joey and Ross were a lot more supportive of the Monica-Chandler relationship than Rachel or Phoebe.
