Some have commented that the cucumbers resemble snakes to cats. That makes sense, but I’d like to propose an alternate theory. Cucumbers look like big green turds when you think about it. When the cat sees a cucumber it might be a primal reaction to seeing the droppings of a predator larger than itself. Perhaps the cat is thinking, “whatever pooped this thing is close by! I’d better get out of here now!”
