The removal of Sonic 4 from the ideal timeline, while I respect and support it, does cause problems when you remember the first Whitehead remaster was made to be a prequel to episode II. So that would mean that the best way to play the original games doesn't happen there.

It’s really sad that Sonic 06 left such a huge stain on the franchise and it’s only just starting to finally recover from it almost 20 years later

Would it still happen, or, like Mania, won't exist because they're already making good 2D Sonic games and good multiplayer games?

Erasing the Boost formula from the timeline is erasing SA2 from the timeline, SA2 is where this gameplay started. Basically the only thing stopping SA2's speed stages from being Boost stages is not having the Boost. These stages are a series of timing challenges across hallway stages with branching paths, Unleashed just doubled down on what SA2 started

The funny but really sad truth behind this alternate timeline is that it would easily have happened... if Sega just respected the actual series itself more and prioritized easy money less. Like... oh idk, Nintendo with how they treat a series like Mario. The folks they really wanted to emulate lel. Or various other gaming companies.

Granted, I feel like corporate greed and quick out of touch decisions would still persist and make the franchise imperfect. As Nintendo, for example, is top tier when they really buckle down and focus... But can get distracted due to their own pride and greed. Which Sega themselves DEFINITELY would still have.

So I believe this series always had a lot of hurdles to jump... But that slimmer of more self-respect and a toned down desire to make money at every single turn would help the series a lot.

And of course, Sonic's biggest flaws come from the overall nature of rushing products out to ride a trend. Something that hurts every corner of Sonic TO THIS DAY.

Its sad when the only time it felt like Sonic actually took a step back and quality checked itself in recent memory waaaas..... the first Sonic movie. And that felt more like Paramount damage controlling than Sega doing jack all. Cause they clearly did not give af to let Sonic's initial movie design happen in the first place lmao.

But yeah, if I had one wish, I'd use it to switch over to a timeline that has these adjustments. Even if lord knows how it shifts our actual individual lives in the process.... bleh. Paradox talk.

How I’d fix Shadow the hedgehog:
None of that 10 ending bullshit, just three: a good ending, a bad ending, and the neutral ending. Then the final ending.


How to fix ‘06: tweak the story a bit, make Elise not human(even though I saw no big deal about that one scene), and the ring boost introduced in sonic unleashed(technically it was sonic rush), blaze would have more prominence in the story.

Ah yes, the three quintessential Super States: The Avatar, Amy, and Omega! What was the thought process behind E-123 and Ms. Rose’s inclusion as that trio? Or was it just a joke?

Considering how he brought back Mephilis for this version of Forces, I thought of something
Maybe we could allude to it by bringing back other characters from defunct timelines:
More specifically, as post game bonus stages or the dlc, he mentioned we could bring back the freedom fighters, Cosmo, and Sonic's family from underground.

Here are the character interactions after freeing them.
Freedom fighters:
-Modern Sonic: Srally stars scolding Sonic for letting the ultimate anhilator go off only for Bunnie to but in and say, "Uh, Sally-girl, I don't think that's our Sonic." Sonic then responds by shaking his head and asking,"Do I know any of you?'
-Classic Sonic: Antionne is shocked about how small Sonic is. However, rotor mentions that any Sonic is a good Sonic. Classic Sonic looks like he is about to say something but decides to hold that thought.

Cosmo: rather than interacting with the Sonics upon being freed, Cosmo would interact with the Tails's (by the way, in this hypothetical scenario, I am assuming Classic Tails is Orange)
-Modern Tails: Cosmo would be confused as to what was going on but before Sonic would say anything, she hugs Modern Tails before Tails asks if she is some sort of plant human hybrid, causing awkward silence
-Classic Tails: same setup as Modern Tails, but instead, Classic Tails says he is getting choked, causing the Awkward Silence before Cosmo mention she doesn't recall Tails being that short, or Orange.

Sonia, Manic and Aleena:
-Modern Sonic: Sonia and Manic ask Sonic where his Gutair medalleon went, causing Sonic to become confused. Prompting Sonia to remind him that they are his siblings. Prompting Sonic to mention that he doesn't recall having a family but that he has met weirder today, so he just goes along with it.
-Classic Sonic:
Queen Aleena brings Sonic in for a big hug only to comment that Sonic looks a lot like he did as a baby. Prompting confusion from Classic Sonic, breaking off the hug.

And yes, as a 100% reward, there will be CG shorts showing how these characters get used to this new world.

If the warehoge took the game play from mirrors edge, add 3d sonicness to it, without the first person stuff. The warehog would be an awesome acrobatic alternative to sonic. With the addition of gaining and keeping momentum with correctly timed parkour move stuff.

I think the simplest way to fix things would be sega actually finishing 06 instead of releasing the unfinished beta they did release(yes the version of 06 we got was a beta, that’s how rushed the game was)think what project 06 will look like when it’s finished, if sega had made that back in 2006 instead of what they actually did, we wouldn’t be here having this discussion.

Yeah, it seems that the main problem was Sega treated Sonic as their own COD or yearly sports game like FIFA, not an flagship AAA game that deserves proper dev time and manpower

Good video. I know I’m late to this. I imagine if we had this timeline we could possibly get ports to some of these games. Sega wouldn’t be afraid to release older games because they wouldn’t have to be afraid of Sonic 06 or Sonic Unleashed because of backlash.

also would much rather Infinite be actually interesting than just a slightly polished version of the shallow cliche he is already like you're suggesting. It's just not a compelling character, and never has been any of the other hundreds of iterations of it out there in media

Out of everything that you’ve mentioned in this I think there are two Sonic Games that might have been better if Sega hadn’t messed up so much.

I think if Sonic Generations had more development time it should have had a zone dedicated to Sonic Chaos for the Master System, CD for the Sega CD, Sonic R for the Saturn, and one of the two Story Book games to represent the Wii Sonic Games, since Unleashed SD and Colors were axed in this timeline.

As for Lost World, I personally would have it be the third entry in the Story Book Games, since they were partially cut short because of Sonic Colors and them wanting to pander to the nostalgia of Sonic 1 and 2. Then you could have Dimps make the 3DS version of Lost World, and if the game does well enough despite being on the Wii U, they could even make another Story Book game as a dual console release for both Wii U and Switch.

I think Cubot could work, but sparingly and not as he currently is. Just dile back the incompetency some and limit his appearances and he’s a nice joke.

I look at it like this, Awesome SEGA Died after the Dreamcast and were bought out by Sammy holdings! Development teams like Sonic team died out with most of the good inspiring talent leaving, and other great teams gone also like AM2! They came out with some good titles after the buy out but as it stands now SEGA is a shell of its former glory! Sonic is dead because SEGA doent really care, just about you acring to pay more money for Sonic Games and such, i'm sure if the fan base got smart and stoped and tought with their wallets, Sega of now would just sweep Sonic away like every other greatest thing about the older sega's former glories!!
