Part of me feels like its more likely that these child scholars are versions of Renalla. Seeing as she has the great rune of rebirth, and when you take it from her when you beat her and the children disappear, but you can be reborn yourself. Not to mention Renalla is supposed to be like locke away, so it seems unlikely, to me anyways, that other wizards would come here.

One day, fromsoft will release a game where they didn’t cut out a bunch of the most fucked up, dark shit in the narrative and it will cause mass insanity among any who consume it

This is why I didn’t kill any of them if I could help it. You only have to hit the one with the barrier, you don’t actually need to kill them.

So I would sprint around, do a running lunge attack with my shamshir and immediately run towards Renalla to start preparing my powerful spells.

(Yes… I fought the Renalla and Ranni using magic.. lol because I’m stubborn, but it worked because eventually I just threw big rocks at them.)

I think they are adorable and i want to adopt one. Throughout my playthrough i tried my hardest to not kill them just hit them but they ended up killing eachother ToT

Still find it funny they can throw books at you with enough force to crush the bones of a guy in full heavy steel armor.

As weird as this sounds, I think it's adorable they might see this as a game, I have personally enjoyed their section of the fight and how unique it was, now I wish this was fully in along with them still being there after the fight so it could be less of a "american school moment" and more like a game with no harm done.

They probably cut the dialogue to make it a tad easier to locate the one with the barrier. I'll be honest I didn't notice the singing right away & was wondering around aimlessly my first few tries.

this really left a sour taste in my mouth. they simply aren't even in the realm of a sentient being anymore. they have lost their lives and are only able to continue on because of that accursed witch. which would be a miracle to modern medicine if it were real. but in my eyes, the experience of death is something to be held sacred and is what makes us human. death, or rather the impending doom of it, is the driving force behind all of humanity. if we lose our sole purpose for living, to not die, then what will become of humanity? insanity and degradation of a massive scale. the fall of humanity. that is what put an incredibly sour taste into my mouth.

I think the line were removed becuse it would be hard to hear the lullaby and probley made the fight to hectic with noise because misuaki most likely don't have a problem for makeing you feal bad for a fight Cough Cough Sif Cough

I like how you subtitled very clear sung dialogue, and then did not subtitle the overlapping voices. Thanks, I have no idea what was said because of APD. Also, and I can't believe I still have to explain this; NO ONE IN THE LANDS BETWEEN CAN EVER DIE UNLESS THEY WERE KILLED BY MALIKETH'S BLACK BLADE. Or if they had the rune of death literally carved into their flesh.

Judging by their haircut, makeup, and ring around their neck looking like a choker, i always tell myself when fighting them "So this is what they teach them in the Liberal arts school!"

I'm thinking that maybe Rennala is trying to recreate Ranni? I mean, we only see Rannis burned body, but never what she looked like while alive, so these just may be the closest representation of what child Ranni might have looked like.

It has always been a challenge trying to tell a story while involving action.
Elden ring has many ways of doing this, General Radahn is probably the best example. The fight itself, giving hints to what Radahn truly is, you finally beat him only to find his true purpose, and only after he is defeated do you really feel the impact of the story.

My favorite example was in Dark Souls 3. We made our journey through the DS series, and fought many powerful foes. When I first fought the soul of cinder I thought nothing of it. The music is original and so is the fight, but you get the second phase activated and it hits like a BRICK. Souls fans remember Gwyn very much so, and Soul of Cinder second phase starts off with the music changing in a way that I didn't pick up on at first. It was Gwyns music from DS1 slowly creeping in to the original theme currently playing. The big "O-shit", jaw dropping moment was when you see the soul of cinder now using Gwyns moveset. The pure rush of excitement and realization of what the Soul of Cinder truly was sinks in like Luke Skywalker finding out Dark Vader is his father, and it's DURING the fight that you get this beautiful, wordless transition into something that puts a whole spectrum of emotions into the players. It's Gwyn, gwyn is back and we all remembered what that fight was back in DS1, and now we realize this final chapter of a long running story is at it's PEAK.

Abyss watchers is a favorite because of a similar realization as you progress through the fight, but in a less emotional way.

This is storytelling at some of it's finest, no words, no blatant writing of what is happening, and can bring some of the most sobering moments. You feel remorse, and regret, fear and excitement. You question if what you just saw was something MORE than just a fight.

They're probably not aware of the dangers in the library as well, what with the falling flaming chandeliers and all

The dialogue was probably removed because it makes the scholars seem even more child-like, and the EU has VERY strict laws about any videogame that depicts violence against children.
