Very insightful video.
ОтветитьI'm really happy with mine. Best display I've ever used, the only thing it's missing is a high refresh rate.
ОтветитьWhere can I get those speaker stands?
ОтветитьI needed someone to tell me to buy this monitor then I found this video. Thanks! 😄
ОтветитьA good deal of money
ОтветитьYou sold 2 32” LG’s for 1 27” studio display?
ОтветитьMy MacBook 16 2021 has a thunderport on the right with does not work with monitors. Is that common? I did not find any info on this.
ОтветитьThat’s why I don’t trust reviewers, they change their mind every video
ОтветитьWell presented Kirk. Very informative. As much hate as Apple gets, I don't mind whatsoever paying for peace of mind. Paying for quality. Paying for a product that will work seamlessly with all my other Apple products. The argument that you can purchase x amount of other monitors is mute to me. Ultimately, you get what you pay for. As much research as I've done, I always come back to this monitor or the Pro Display XDR. My only reservation is time. I'd leary of getting an apple product, only to be surprised when the next iteration gets announced. Haha. Any idea when Pt. 2 will come out for this monitor or the pro display xdr? I'd also like a monitor with faster refresh rates......at least promotion level refresh rates. Cheers.
ОтветитьI'll definitely buy this monitor but I'm torn about the stand, would you say the adjustable stand was worth it? I'm 6'2 but I can just put a few big books under it with the basic stand. I'm also a little concerned the closeness of the monitor, as in I like it when I'm further away from my monitor and it seems to me that the adjustable stand would mean that the screen would be closer. What do you think?
ОтветитьThis was just what I need. I have had a 27inch iMac for quite a few years and have always loved the display, plus I love the fact that it has integrated speakers., saving the issue of having something else plugged in. From your video it looks like this is going to be the way forwards for me now as I look to upgrading. I haven’t scrolled through everyone’s responses(apologies) but another enticing factor from what I have read Is that the speakers in the display are even better than the iMac , and therefore a another plus for this monitor. Why is that important - well I like to play back slideshows and videos I have created and the iMac does a good job for my needs. I hadn’t thought about the ports on the back of this display so your review highlighted a very useful factor - thank you. I think I’m going to bite the bullet and go for this . The problem now is what road to go down next in my upgrading - Mac mini pro or look at a Studio . Looks like I’m going to have to raid the piggy bank.
ОтветитьReally great and helpful video Kirk! I've literally watched it a few times and read through all your comments and your responses, i think i'm sold here. Yes it's still over my budget for a monitor as someone who's not a photography/videography professional (just a hobby), but all your points mentioned are really the pain points im facing right now with my dell monitor. Also, instead of getting another cheaper option like Benq or LG, i think i'll probably upgrade to an apple display eventually, so might as well go for it now haha! Question, been thinking about getting a trackpad+mouse combo too, what are your use cases and do you think the trackpad is worth getting? Thanks!
ОтветитьValid arguments….except for that power charging nonsense. Never in 2 years did i ever fully use the power at all time
ОтветитьWould you prefer a dual monitor setup again like your old setup? How are you finding the single monitor?
Ответитьwell said, the convenience of plug in and start working it's priceless, the 5K resolution is what works best with mac. only thing I would love to have 120hz in the next version
ОтветитьWhat about the lack of HDR support on this display? Do you find that this negatively affects you as a video editor? This is the issue I'm most worried about with this display.
ОтветитьHope Apple will make Studio Display 42’
Ответитьhow do you set up ur MacBook Pro with the display? is it on sleep mode? I've never seen the laptop closed while using the display, that's pretty neat
Ответитьwhere did you bought the fountain pen (lamy) dock?
ОтветитьYou brought up a serious point that nobody is talking about. The fact that we can get rid of our hubs/docks due to the usb’s on the back is everything to me. It’s coming tomorrow. Can’t wait.
ОтветитьThe lack of features will be a deal-breaker for the vast majority of people who’re in the market for a new monitor. The studio display is overpriced, the built-in webcam is mediocre, there’s no HDR support, it uses an IPS panel instead of mini LED, there’s no promotion support. In 2023, most other brands wouldn’t dare to sell a 60Hz monitor in this price range to mainstream consumers.
ОтветитьIt’s definitely a thing of beauty and every time I see one a little voice says “buy me, you know you want me”. I have come close so often but can’t really justify it. Maybe the trick is to do a video to convince myself. Just like you did 😂
ОтветитьYeah my dock doesn't work with the studio display
ОтветитьThank you for the excellent review.
ОтветитьI’m happier with my Apple Studio display…but I’m considerably poorer, too.
ОтветитьWhat is the small "table" you have under the monitor?
ОтветитьReally enjoyed this video. I've had mine for a little more than a year for my photography and absolutely love it. Curious, do you use one of the built in color presets for editing your films? I so, please share!
ОтветитьThe display seems amazing, but I just don’t understand why they limit it to 60hz? After using a lot of 120hz+ screens I just feel like everything is laggy and horrible in 60. Maybe in just imagining it? 🤷🏻♂️
ОтветитьThat's it. Imma get me a nice Studio Display, your video explained exactly what I need as a photographer, web developer and graphics person! Thank you, have a good one.
Ответитьif someone could throw 400$ for a stand I would say why not just goes with pro display XDR because 400$ seems like nothing to you anyway
ОтветитьI've been wanting this display for a while now. It's a heft to purchase and I currently have the LG 5K2K as my monitor setup to my mac mini and 14 mbp. I do photography and have the same prob as you of the monitor not being color accurate to my macbook.
ОтветитьDiggin the Orbit Key Nest. I have the Orbit Key Desk mat and their key organizer. I've wanted to get the Nest for awhile, I just haven't yet. How do you like it?
ОтветитьI can’t believe you kept talking about color accuracy and yet never mentioned BenQ ! Their SW series with hardware calibration is spot on in the color accuracy. I do not diss LG, I use one beside my BenQ but for colors they are not even close.
Ответить60Hz tho
ОтветитьSorry man but no. I have everything Apple but my monitors will never be
ОтветитьTotally agree. It's the best and just for the color benefits alone. How did you connect your XBOX-X to it? Great video review.
ОтветитьApple is ripping off customers. Period
ОтветитьWas reading somewhere how apple programs their computers to not run smoothly on monitors that aren’t theirs.
ОтветитьThose speaker stands look great! I did not see them listed in your set up list. What are they called and where did you get them? Thanks for the great video!
ОтветитьSo I hear your accent, yet you chose to use the word "COLOR"... Wow mate, wtf?
ОтветитьAlternate title, apple makes sure their products work like shit except with their own hardware.
ОтветитьPart of this sounded to me like you were looking for reasons to like it and justify it, honestly. I'm not saying that is the case, it just SOUNDED like that at times.
That said, I think the main thing about what makes this display not for most people is not that it's bad, as it certainly isn't, but the price. For people in Apple's ecosystem that can value all the features included, that especially work well with other Apple hardware, this display has a lot of features that add value. If it weren't for the frankly very high price of this display, I think it could be justified for A LOT more people.
I think you get an excellent display here, but you pay a premium for it.
It's also the best looking and best built display on the market and it's not even close. I can't even find very many other display on the entire market where the housing is made out of metal, and when they are, they are usually butt ugly.
Its there a way to use this monitor with a consoles or something else, no a mac ?
Ответитьyou really do color sensitive work next to a window without a screen hood in the monitor? I am quite confused. I hope it was just a candy shot for the thumbnail.
ОтветитьYou lost me at Color. Not hardware calibrated, not 100% aRGB. No factory calibration report: No thank you, oh and not really useful in a PC ( they it further chains you to the Apple system). BenQ all the way.
ОтветитьSo glad I saw this video! I’ve been wondering about what monitor I should pair with my M2 ultra with great distress 😂. As a premiere pro user, I use the rec709 color gamut and I’m really trying to take the color in my video work to new heights. Ik you said you use divinci, but in your experience, do you find that the Studio Display represents the colors in your edit accurately? Did you need to calibrate the monitor before using it?
ОтветитьYou should get the new Samsung S9 Viewsonic and compare it. it's $1299 and 5k. I would love to see what you think with it sitting side by side with the Apple Display. ( I am really really wanting the 30"-32" iMac is true and happening asap)
ОтветитьI see you have a xbox series X. Did you manage to connect it to the Studio Display?
I tried to connect it here with a capture card (Signal 4k60). It works in 4k 60hz, but it has latency that renders it impossible to play.
