Seems like they are hating on the wrestler “death to all the wrestlers” “little guy” even though he’s bigger than bjj guy. “Every wrestlers nightmare” “they aren’t like the white belts”

Hey, I got a state champion in ultimate frisbee that wants to take on a green belt. He's watched plenty of UFC. Let's set it up!

So this kid is a state champ wrestler? That also makes him a great athlete with amazing cardio vascular endurance. People get so caught up with technique that they forget about the actual individual humans competing.

That's why judo and wrestling always wins against bjj guys. Because they have 0 footwork, they can't do anything standing

The camera man is trying to make any excuse possible to stan jujitsu. His bias is a little annoying, he even tried to give extra time so the kid could get subbed

Awesome match the 18 year old will be known soon and the wrestler made a point you do need submissions.just realized this was a year old but my comments still stand

Just tell the wrestler he can follow Jiu Jitsu rules and the wrestler will destroy him. This was a pointless exercise in futility

Should have set a time limit for the takedowns same as you did for submissions

As a former State Wrestler, 52 years ago (not state champion), I was rooting for the wrestler. It is hard to violate rules that have been engrained for years. I remember when I wrestled my Uncle when I was 15. He basically just choked me. I think he had watched "Big Time Wrestling" and thought that was real.

A good Greco Roman wrestler, will beat a good BJJ fighter, on the street 8 out of 10 times. Wrestlers are the most dangerous street fighters, till they get hit on the chin...

I think what you should do is get a super solid foundation in wrestling, for maybe atleast like 2 or 3 years. Then add on some juijitsu, then when you have the time some boxing, and boom ultimate warrior

What division would you have this young man compete in better nogi tournament like Naga or Grappling Industries?
(Imagine being a 3 to 6-month white belt competing in your first tournament against this guy. 😬😅)

I find wrestling takedowns simpler to learn and execute. typically better ground control, but Judo/Jiu-Jitsu has a much bigger tool bag of submissions and survival tricks. I have done both and that's my opinion.

Well, these matches are kind of nonsensical. Wrestling´s goal is to pin people, BJJ´s goal is to submit people. Usually both will succeed in what they try to do. The wrestler pins the BJJ guy and then the BJJ submits him.

In a "real fight" the wrestler´s takedown will be followed by a vicious ground and pound if the takedown on hard ground itself was not enough to finish the fight. To defend myself in a 1:1 fight I would always choose wrestling.

I knew a guy in college who was an unassuming, very quiet kid who also happened to be a former all-state wrestler. Once at a party this drunk “badass” who outweighed him by probably 30 pounds or more started a fight with him. The wrestler never threw a punch, just kept taking the idiot down until he was laying on the floor gasping for air and saying “I’m done”.

There are no take downs in BJJ (there use to be but not no one practice it anymore) they just sit down on the ground when the fight starts

BJJ seems like sort of a weaker man's or 'cowardly' way of fighting. They always seem to be thinking ;' Well I know you can beat me up, but maybe if I can just grab onto your arm or leg, or choke you I can win...'.
