I have bedside baskets for the accent pillows on my master bed. They work great and keep the room tidy. Do I have too many? Maybe... but I rotate them out and make sure they always have a place (bed, couch, basket or linen closet). 😌

You are absolutely wonderful! All of this makes sense and I’m definitely more about easy home than fussy decorative home.

I need to get rid of the 4 big ones that came with my couch!! A remote box has been on my radar forever!!! Yes, who wants to dust all those bottles and glasses.

How funny. I’ve just finished packing away throw pillows and streamlining before watching this.

Drawers, drawers, drawers for all base cabinets even if a pantry cabinet. Makes so much more effecient storage for everything in the kitchen.
That makes so much sense about the dishwasher location.

We use our throw pillows and keep "extras" in an ottoman. Husband hates hates them--even though he uses them.

I agree with you on each one of these things, but especially the balls...you're right...they make no sense. But I really dislike branches in the house. I don't see the point. BTW, your skin looks fabulous!!

I have a tonne of throw pillows and cushions! I love them but I know guests don’t. Thanks for the nudge to pare them down.

Oh my word you read my mind about all those pillows! I watch all the decor shows and there's always too many pillows but I've never seen anybody actually say it. Bravo!

My home was hit by a tornado last month. I didn’t realize how many extra pillows I had on a couch in my bonus room and my spare room bed until I made my property claim. It was ….a….lot…of pillows. I was embarrassed.

Great helpful video! I love love love making things look nice in my home that is also very functional! I love finding clever ways to accomplish that! I admit 10 years ago I was into the whole balls in a bowl and branches lol it was THE thing then :)

I normally don't listen to videos like this BUT my goodness you are right! It's not about what's not in trend anymore, it's about curating your space! Made me think for sure!

Agreed on the bar, also from a practical sense they get DUST-y. We once had the full restaurant style set up, couple hundred bottles and it was a chore taking them all day and dusting. We now have built in cabinets we designed at IKEA, the skinny pull out drawers that they suggest for spices and olive oil etc are fantastic for a bar set up 👌🏼

I try to “save” the beautiful ashtrays and give them a new life.😅

Onto throw pillows...I can't seem to get enough. But my trick is to keep the pillow forms (same size, same amount) and change just the covers.
This suits my inability to commit to one color scheme, cool vs warm, etc
Also less expensive than redecorating.

I overloaded my sofas with pillows. My nephews would come over and after a short time 1/2 of them would be on the floor. It was OBNOXIOUS. They weren't trying to throw them it's just they were all in the way, and because my sofas are leather the pillows were constantly sliding off. Now I have just a few. And they get used and are not in the way.

Garrett…I have an excellent use for those little wedge wood ash trays. Keep them under your small oil bottles and your pepper grinders that are in your cabinet. It will catch any escaping pepper or oil, thereby keeping your interior cabinet clean. Every once in awhile I take those little dishes out and wash them, then return them under my grinder or oil bottle. It looks nice and neat, serves a function, and allows you to collect more if you enjoy those tiny “ashtrays.” 😊

I got it all- stems , wine racks, bar with decanters, balls of all kinds in a bowl. And a vintage ashtray. It’s all the things I love . I like stuff. Oh and I have cut down on pillows , just three on bed , so that’s good . Also, no fake flowers in bath . I’m keeping my Balls

Yes to everything you said in this video. Another thing I never understood the sign trend. Signs that say EAT in the dining room or LAUNDRY in the laundry room or KITCHEN in the kitchen. I know what room I'm in and I'm sure my guests know what room they're in. So, unless you're easily confused, I don't get it.

My friend loves Chinese Blue Willow. She uses the ashtray as her spoon rest at her coffee station!

I don’t like alcohol bottles on display, like maybe a bottle in a cool looking holder and a couple of glasses but the alcoholic look is kind of weird…I’d rather see a nice looking coffee bar.

I've never understood those display bar carts...like where does the ice and fruit juice come from? I have a little stand beside my fridge with drawers which hold napkins and straws, the citrus press and glassware are on top along with a few bottles of opened wines/spirits. Sherry and white wine are in the fridge. In the kitchen just makes more sense, unless it's a real bar setup with a fridge etc

What do you do with all these pillows at night? Built up a little fort, obviously! xD

My rule is I buy only things I LOVE. Liking isn't good enough, being a space filler or the right color isn't good enough. I have some handmade decor items I bought 50 years ago and I still LOVE them.

I have a large crystal ash tray as a cat dish, he is a tuxedo , so his dish is appropriate.
