Well, that must be one of the simplest, yet most effective methods I have seen, for making zimmerit... I may try it on a 1/72 German panzer... using a much smaller screwdriver, of'course... :)

@svinehunden I'm trying VERY hard to become unstuck and build something without wings, the main plan being to build a 'King Tiger' in 1/72.. but the aeroplane model I'm working on now will most likely take at least another week, and then I'm off work for 2 weeks, during which I will have a P-47 Thunderbolt orgie... or something like that.. I have got some very interesting decals of a few South American P-47's which saw action in WWII! Well, they're interesting to me, anyway... :)

I use a x-acto knife (#11 solid aluminium handle) cut to lenght and drilled out to fit a JBC (15 watt) soldering iron, the chuck of the x-acto knife handle allows for exchanging of (old used) knife blades, ground the blades to desired with and sharpen at the end, it gives multiply choices and even thin weld lines can easily be simulated...don´t exchange blades when the tool is hot though! :-P

Thank you:) 6302 - a model of the tank with the Porsche turret. These tanks were only 50 pieces. Henschel turret was installed on 430 tanks (Dragon 6303). If you built a diorama, select the action, where it occurs and what type of tank .

I was using a soldering iron to score zimmerit patterns. It took a long time and demanded absolute concentration. I have to admit that I never thought of using a screw driver so thank you for sharing.

I use a soldering iron with a small screwdriver tip.
For me this works great.
A word of warning do not use this on a kit built with superglue as the fumes are dangerous.

I tried this on an old scrap kit, and pressed very lightly. I burnt a hole straight through the model. Think I'll take the Putty method.

This technique requires great care and patience and is pretty tedious. Not to mention, having a lit candle on your bench can be VERY dangerous. Sorry but I think there are many other alternatives that are quicker, more effective and look more realistic. I prefer acrylic paste and a zimmerit tool/rake.
