I updated to 12.1.4 and backed it up. But everytime i try to downgrade, and restore my backup. it keeps forcing the phone to update back to 12.1.4. How do i stop this???

i tried doing this from 12.1.3 to downgrade to 12.1.2 and it extracted the software, and i typed in my pass code. halfway through the process it gave me an error and said it couldn't complete the process. and cause my to have to restore everything. any suggestions on what i should do???? i want to downgrade but i font want to brick my device.
