This video was a real eye-opener! I always thought testosterone was only about muscle and libido, but now I see how deeply it affects energy, mood, and even brain clarity. The breakdown of each factor—from poor sleep to hidden endocrine disruptors—was so clear and practical. I especially appreciated the point about sugar and stress silently wrecking our hormone balance. Thank you for educating us in a way that’s both science-based and easy to understand. Subscribed and sharing this with my friends who need this info!

I disagree with your assessment of carbs and testosterone. There are numerous studies which show that a higher carb diet reduces cortisol and increases testosterone.

I've been aware of these testosterone destroyers for years. My problem is how to ACTUALLY STOP them. How to (1) STOP STRESS (2) STOP INSOMNIA (3) STOP CRAVING CARBS including sugars etc etc etc. (4) I just don't have sufficient WILL POWER. Thanks. I'm depressed.

And as always I'm an exception, again. What a surprise 😆 I'm starting to think I'm an 👽 lol Sooo, my testosterone is really low due to inborn chromosome mutation. But my mental clarity, overall energy, libido are way better then average. I'm healthy and I look twice as young. I am practicing keto diet for past year or 2 but that wasn't a game changer for things I've mentioned earlier, it just helped lose some wight. Any thoughts?

The doctor was correct in stating that **higher insulin levels reduce SHBG**, which is beneficial for increasing **free testosterone**. However, this relationship has important implications for different metabolic phenotypes:

- *General Population:* Elevated insulin (e.g., from carb intake) lowers SHBG, leading to higher free testosterone.
- *Insulin-Suppressed Individuals (e.g., Deep Carnivores):*
- These individuals have *chronically low insulin* due to minimal carbohydrate intake.
- Without insulin signaling, **SHBG remains elevated**, binding more testosterone and reducing free testosterone availability.
- Blood markers in such individuals often show **very low insulin**, confirming an insulin-suppressed state.

*Key Takeaway:*
While high SHBG is problematic for testosterone availability in low-insulin phenotypes (e.g., strict carnivores), moderate insulin activity helps optimize free testosterone by suppressing SHBG.

10 ways people may unknowingly lower their testosterone levels, emphasizing testosterone’s role in energy, mood, metabolism, mental clarity, motivation, and overall health for both men and women. The ways include:

- Excess sugar and carbs: Raises insulin, lowers SHBG, increases estrogen, reduces luteinizing hormone (LH), and decreases testosterone production.
- Chronic stress: Elevates cortisol, which competes with testosterone for precursors like cholesterol and DHEA, prioritizing survival over testosterone synthesis.
- Poor sleep: Disrupts REM sleep, reducing testosterone by up to 50% in a week and lowering LH.
- Endocrine disruptors: Chemicals like plastics and pesticides mimic hormones, blocking testosterone signaling and production.
- Low-fat or vegan diets: Lack cholesterol, zinc, vitamin D, B12, creatine, and carnitine, reducing testosterone by 10-15%.
- Lack of strength training: Failing to challenge large muscle groups (e.g., legs, glutes) or perform high-intensity interval training reduces testosterone and growth hormone.
- Excess body fat: Visceral fat increases aromatase, converting testosterone to estrogen, complicating supplementation.
- Overtraining: Without adequate recovery (48-72 hours), exercise breaks down muscles, raises cortisol, and lowers testosterone.
- Excess alcohol: Stresses the liver, impairs estrogen metabolism, reduces zinc absorption, and increases estrogen relative to testosterone.
- Vitamin D deficiency: As a hormone, vitamin D directly supports testosterone production and gene expression.

This fella advises a holistic approach to balance testosterone rather than relying solely on supplementation and sells a telehealth service for personalized guidance.

🤔🤔 #1 Is Myth Busted. Carbs Does not lower Testosterone. Shawn Baker example as a Carnivore no carbs and T levels Free 49 pg/mL and low 200's Total. Add in Carbs like Paul Saladino and others the Testosterone comes back.

It's not on the list, but, stop jacking off. You're literally jettisoning your testosterone on the daily. No wonder you're doing everything "right," yet you're still built like a sandbag filled with soy beans.
This is an unsolicited public service announcement for whomever requires it.
Good luck.

This was one of the most informative and eye-opening videos I’ve seen on testosterone health. I always thought boosting testosterone was just about exercise or supplements, but I had no idea that sugar, poor sleep, vitamin D deficiency, and even low-fat diets could have such a big impact. The explanation about aromatase and how visceral fat can actually convert testosterone into estrogen really blew my mind. Thank you for breaking this down in a way that’s both scientific and easy to understand—subscribed and already rethinking my daily habits!

Are you sure about the SHBG? My understanding was the opposite of what you presented - that higher SHBG lowers free T, while lower SHBG increases free T.
