Why Palestinians in Gaza have suffered for decades.

On October 7, Hamas, a militant group based in the Gaza Strip, launched a deadly attack on Israel, killing over 1,400 Israelis and kidnapping over 200. In retaliation, Israeli airstrikes have killed, as of this video, over 6,400 Palestinians in Gaza, where Palestinians have lived for decades under an occupation and blockade.

Since 1967, Israel has imposed tight restrictions on travel and essential goods such as food, fuel, medicine, and water in its occupied territories. In 2007, those restrictions became even tighter in Gaza after Hamas seized power there. Since then, it has been nearly impossible for Palestinians to leave Gaza or to access an adequate supply of essential goods.

Today, the Gaza Strip, with a population of over 2 million Palestinians, is a victim of what many call “collective punishment” as Israel bombards its population, shuts off access to internet, power, food, water, and medicine, forces them to leave their homes, and prepares for a ground invasion.

This latest episode of Vox Atlas explains how the experience of Palestinians in Gaza got to this point, and what’s behind Israel’s occupation and its blockade of Gaza.

Why should Israel have to feed and supply all these arab's who "claim" to be "palestinians" - which by the way never were an actual people? Why aren't all the other arab states stepping in to help these people. Gaza was an area controlled by Egypt before the 1973 Yom Kippur war......why don't they take control of them now......

It's really terrible that you only show one side of the story and don't tell the whole truth! A one-sided story can only lead to a cycle of hatred that continues. Instead of seeing the whole story and for people to really understand what is happening, you choose a half-truth according to what is convenient for you.

War has been ongoing in this Region particularly for centuries. This report is not complete and seems one sided against Israel. The Palestinians had a chance to have their own State in 1937 and again was offered in 1947 BUT THEY SAID NO! Then the people of Gaza elected a MILITANT group to control their Region. Instead of helping their own people develop the land and support their people, Hamas amassed weapons, and dug a spider web of tunnels under the city protecting themselves and using the people as shields to hide behind as they bomb Israelis. Maybe the people watching this should spend time delving more into History to discover all of the events leading up to today and not just accepting bits and pieces of Historical events as told in this report. Lastly they should actually look into what Hamas wants, unfortunately it is to annihilate the Jews and establish an Islamic State. That is a FACT!

I do not get my history from these people.
The land of Canaan was given to the hebrew people by God Himself.
Given to Abraham then because of the famine Jacob and his family temporarily moved to Egypt.
But for 400yrs the Egyptians enslaved them.
God freed them and returned them to the homeland.
So for thousands of years this land was theirs.
They were dispersed and forced out of the land by the roman empire in 70ad and they used the word Palestine after the philistines in order to deride and humiliate the Jews while they were carried off.

To say they have no right to return to their land or that the land is not theirs goes against history and against God.

Wow, this is probably the most distorted version of history i ever saw. You could ask a Hamas' member and would probably get a less hostile and half-truth Version than this one. Its astonishing.
