This looks sus. BUT....The super basic premise of this game (bad as it looks) is actually cannon. It's in the appendices at the end of Return of the King, and Gandalf mentions it briefly. And in the movies too, when he says "I searched everywhere for the creature Gollum but the enemy found him first". This takes place after Bilbo leaves the Shire, and before Frodo leaves the Shire in Fellowship of the Ring. Gandalf and Aragorn search for Gollum as they are trying to determine what Bilbo found in that cave in the Hobbit, and if the ring is the One Ring. Gollum is actually captured both by the orcs, and by the elves of mirkwood, and gandalf does actually question him, and then Gollum escapes when orcs attack Mirkwood, in the books. The candle maker and all those other named characters are made up, I'm pretty sure. A real shame that this game is what told that story, because it could have been really cool to get that story in a game, perhaps from Gandalf or Aragorn's perspective. There is also a short film about this same story called "The Hunt for Gollum" which is pretty well done, honestly.

Wow, feel sorry for you having wasted money on that, not disliking the character or the franchise, but a game where your always sneaking around?
Of all the characters in that series to do a game on, they chose gollum?
Sadly the way they animated the character was pretty cruddy too, his eye and their irises.
Adding choices doesn't make sense, he never really had a choice, he was turned that way by the ring's influence.
Thankful you played this and saved me the trouble, they should have done a different character like frodo.
The stuff they have you do in the game makes the character seem way to unbelievable, and it seems like you only play a small part of the larger story. You never get to be him as a hobbit before the changes or the hiding in orc strongholds.
IDK it seems like this company was running out of ideas so they decided to go back to lord of the rings, and gollum was one of the characters they figured people liked a lot?
It might have been an interesting idea for a tombraider type character or something like that, this it seems is a gollum lover's dream game.
Would be interested in seeing if it had bosses, or areas that transitioned to locations or higher difficulty stuff, but it seems like its all just one level, with cinematics here and there.
makes me think of tomb raider, prince of persia the sands of time and alien vs predator, but those had a bit of combat and some boss types in them, as well as some stealth skills
Tomb raider was mostly large wild animals or tomb traps, prince of persia lots of what your character does climbing and crawling, and avp for the hiding in hole,vents and shadows, minus wall walking and cool kill options (headbite brain eating).
I still like avp and prince of persia better, those characters could fight back, and sneaking around was cool, when you could make teams of humans disappear unnoticed.

It’s games like this that made me wish The Third Age was made backwards compatible or something. Yeah sure the game copied FFX combat and the story kinda falls off near the end, but goddamn it felt more of a blast to play. I’d rather tolerate the long skill animations than this buggy mess

Not gonna lie, this honestly just seems like a mobile game. Very disappointing. The way characters move and sit and shit, it looks AWFUL. Like oblivion type movements.

I'm just paying attention to the fact that Gollum's hands are never where they should be in this game, they either float above the ground when he lurks or they're positioned wrong when he crawls.

I just found out that the voice for Gollum is the same VA as Riki from Xenoblade Chronicles, according to IMDB. So that's pretty rad if you're a fan of that series.
