IMITATION technique – SHADOWING in Russian

Speaking a foreign language is like a performance! It’s not just about grammar, it’s about feelings, emotions, and expressions. Not only WHAT you say matters but also HOW you say it. That is why the Imitation technique (aka ‘shadowing’) is so effective!

Imitating a Russian native speaker improves your pronunciation and expression faster than any other speaking practice.

How does it work? Each lesson consists of 3 steps:

1. Watch the video and read the text. You just need to understand what I am talking about. Look up some words in a dictionary if you need to. Watch as many times as you need.

2. Here you have pauses after each sentence. You need to copy me 100%: words, stress, pauses, intonation, facial expressions, and gestures.

3. This is the most challenging part – you try to speak WITH me. It might not work the first time – just try again and again.


By copying a native speaker, you are teaching yourself to communicate in the most natural way!

Приве́т. У меня́ сего́дня ужа́сный день. Наве́рно, ху́дший день в мое́й жи́зни. У́тром меня́ уво́лили с рабо́ты. Ты представля́ешь? Они́ ничего́ не сказа́ли зара́нее. Я про́сто прихожу́ на рабо́ту и ви́жу листо́к об увольне́нии. Э́то насто́лько не во́время. Сейча́с я да́же не зна́ю, что де́лать, к кому́ идти́. В о́бщем, да… Э́то са́мый тру́дный день за после́днее вре́мя.

TRANSLATION:
Hi. I have a terrible day today. Probably the worst one in my life. In the morning, I was fired from my job. Can you imagine that? They didn’t even tell me in advance. I just came to my workplace and saw a pink slip. It’s the worst timing now. Now I don’t even know what to do and to whom to go. Well, yeah… It’s the most difficult day in a while.
