I wonder how many troops it would have taken to defeat the British during the war of independence if they had modern war rifles and the Brit’s didn’t

For your Historical timeline, the Spitzer bullet first appeared in 1902. The US would adopt the Spitzer in 1906, in the years prior to the Great War. Prior to 1902, round nose jacketed bullets were the norm for most of the leading Military forces. I've an original 30-03 cartridge in my small collection that features pretty much the same bullet as the 30-40 Krag- Jorgenson cartridge.

One of the Left's propaganda phrases is "Weapons of War.". Their ignorance shines through, because every weapon, at some point in its history, has been a Weapon of War.

I think AI will do the same. To much more deadly effect.

Thank you for essentially being the grandfather I never had. (But now I’m pretty close in age to you! (Both grandfathers dead before I was born). Fortunately, my father was a hunter from Maine and I wound up inheriting his firearms back in 1969. His primary North American game rifle was a sporterized 03-A3. A greater shoot to learn on. There is nothing like .30-06. When I got my military training the M-16 was in vogue and what a terrific weight saver! Of course, I had to have an AR-15 after I retired because so many politicians called them dangerous—I promptly bought my first at the base exchange! My favorite memory: Taking my platoon of guys to the range for evening annual rifle practice. 20 rounds of tracer ammunition going down range is a sight to behold! Now I work part time as a range safety officer at my local range and I get to see and fire a lot of incredible firearms, like Hickok here!

My Pops (Grandfather) always tells me a story about how right before he joined the service and went over to South Korea in the 70s (I believe it was somewhere in the 70s) as the Vietnam War was coming to a end, he was by docks here in Baltimore, Maryland & he seen regular looking ship, didn't even look like a Military/Navy ship but a bunch of guys in uniform were hauling off literal BARRELS of M1 Grands & Springfield 30.06 rifles that were used in WWII, The Korean War & most likely some were from Vietnam as well. At this time I think it was a year or so before the Vietnam War ended and we got all our troops out of country... so these rifles could have been from Vietnam and they just never made it to the battlefield or frontline since they were mainly back-up rifles incase the armed forces in Vietnam started running low on M14s & M16s...

My Grandfather did say that him & a couple of his buddies watched these men, he later said he thinks they were maybe like Merchant Marines or something similar and not actual Military... but they were pushing these barrels down the ramp off the ship and him & his buddies thought it was maybe Wine or Liquor since they were in barrels but when the workers popped them open it was actually FULL of Springfields & M1 Garands from the WWII era... My Pops & his buddies walked up to the barrels to get a closer look and asked the workers what they were doing with them and they said "Getting rid of them, 10$ bucks for the Springfield & $20 bucks for the M1 Garands... some of the Springfields actually had mounts for scopes on them but somone had taken the scopes off... A couple of the M1 Garands actually had scope mounts on them as well, which were extremely rare "M1 Garand Snipers/Marksmen Rifles" but they also did not have the scopes/optics on them... He said that him & his buddies were dead broke as they all came from a poor neighborhood & families in Southwest Baltimore so they asked the guy if they could hold on to a couple of them till they came back with the money to buy a few... Sadly my Pops & his buddies were only able to get like $15 between all of them & when they went back all the rifles were basically gone besides one Springfield 30.06 one of the workers saved for them and my Pops & his buddies played a guessing game or rock, paper, scissors to see who would be able to have the gun & my pops sadly lost 😂... It was crazy to know that within just a few hours about 10 barrels full of these rifles, maybe more, were gone and sold... If he would have been able too get his hands on one of those M1 Garands with the optic mounts on them, would be worth a pretty penny nowadays.

I’m a little confused why he called the flintlock muskets reliable. You could barley fire them in the rain and you couldn’t fire it upside down

I don't think anybody in the US uses the m14. And from what I've heard from veterans..the gun basically sucks. They jammed constantly and they couldn't hit anything in full auto.

Maybe you're thinking of the m21 which is basically the same gun but built professionally for small elite groups instead of mass produced for entire armies.

I've never heard a positive review of the m14 from the Vietnam era. Maybe civilian ones are better?

You should have seen the Fiber glass Case.
Fiber- Glass Case with a metal bottom, for a 155 mm Haubits-77 A. In the half- automatic loading process with a grenade up front, it became a cartridge, haha.
And the powder-bags with 500 mm long gunpowder tubes and at the bottom gunpowder flakes in size of corn-flakes, haha.

I suppose the primer was immensely powerful, from the diameter and the weight and size of the striker.
Inside the Case, there was a tube filled with black-powder, so as to ignite the main powder charge.

Sometimes, (different loadings), the recoil was to immense, we dropped grenades onto the ground in the shooting, for we had three or more grenades on a so called "loading -table", for loading the half-automatic loading-bridge. Quite threatening with "Högkänsligt Spets-Anslags-Rör" or ÖFHKSAR, means Highly Sensitive Point Strike Fuze.

We just showed them up again and shot them out. Highly dangerous one might think.

In the so called "Ravlunda-olyckan", they manually set a grenade into the breech of a French 155 mm howitzer and the fuze detonated the grenade in the setting of the grenade into the breech. arms and legs and heads flying into the wood.

The Artillery peice, damaged beyond repair, but not busted.

Fuze malfunctioning, it was.

The muzzle-blast is so powerful, all vehicles has to be parked at least 50 meters away, or even hardened glass-panes might shatter.

Look at the Indians, playing with Bofors Haubits-77 B

As always good video and info. Have one of the 1903 a3 Remington that still has the cosmoline in the barrel. It is one of the mail order surplus rifles previously owned by a collector. Wanting a used one I can shoot. Also a couple of the m1 carbine. One well used and the other nearly new. Both shoot flawlessly with good barrels. Always love your videos.
