It is dangerous the thing is since they know thousands of people will watch this, they don’t want to affect Acapulcos tourism. But people should be aware of how dangerous it could really be

Warez is the deadliest city in mexico, but Warez is a small town, so the death per thousand is lower, it doesnt reach the news very often. Warez has been overrun with cartels for quite a long time now.

Ive been to Mexico 10 times, mostly the East coast (cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum) but also Cabo and Matzalan over the past 10 years or so... its well known in the US that Acapulco isn't the place to go. The old timers love to talk about it but they dont go anymore. Cancun on the east Coast and Cabo on the west coast has everything a tourist wants (including drugs) and is leagues safer than Acapulco or Tijuana, mostly because violence against or involving international tourists is verboten because both the governments and the cartels depend on tourism. The fact of the matter is that the Mexican government focuses on protecting international tourist hotspots, and less so for places popular among Mexican nationals. It is what it is, international tourism brings in much more money than local tourism plus Americans and Canadians single handedly account for almost all of the illicit drug market and prescription drugs sold via legitimate pharmacies.

I lived in Mexico 12 years and you don’t talk about the cartel or the dangers, the locals make their living off the tourist. And not all the military I have met are not like Luis, lots are on the take. I have seen the death and distraction of the cartel. I have seen a lot. Living there is a lot different than visiting.

As a parent my heart goes out to Luis. He's so righteous and brave and patriotic. I pray he stays safe.
The US needs to stop the flow of guns into Mexico. We know that US guns are used by the cartels and so easy to get. The US needs to do its part too.

If Marijuana had never been criminalised in the USA, in other words if the expert advice offered by professionals had been listened to, most of this insane chaos that we see all over the world would have never happened. Prohibition makes criminals wealthy beyond all bounds. Home grown pot, grown with care and affection is a wonderful plant. The ancient Persians said it well, 'A cup of Keif tea in the morning makes a man as strong as a thousand camels in the courtyard.' So true.

I could only stay with this "documentary" for about 15 minutes. The jounalist did not fit well reporting in his capacity as a "Mexican soldier", and the lack of confidence by the soldiers did not help. Maybe they did think he was a cartel plant, trying to learn tactics from the inside? There are other documentaries that are more informative.

The United States may see a similar situation due to our inability to manage our borders. A war is not the solution to Mexico's cartel problems because, over the years, the cartels have essentially isolated the country's economy and society. A significant portion of their revenue comes from other illegal pursuits including resource theft, extortion, and performing favors for politicians. Mexico has to fix its internal problems.
