This class would go down great to rebuild the fleet or even utopia planetia after the sinth attack.. great video as always.
ОтветитьI'd very much like to see a video on the fighters that the Federation fielded in that class. Or any other fighter class vessel in the Federation.
ОтветитьOh wow, FASA!! I had so much fun with those games. I really dig your world building with these videos, especially the TOS based material. Thank you!
ОтветитьAs a future possible follow-up to this video, you might consider the Menahga class Heavy Destroyer from Mastercom Data Center, which was a Movie-era design heavily influenced by the Detroyat Class (I believe it was an all-new class in-universe and not a refit of the Detroyat frames).
ОтветитьHello TAS
I find it interesting that you and I have had the same idea, but many decades apart. I used to play Star Fleet Battles back in the 80's and 90's. A friend supplied me with a chart for making changes to ships and their associated equipment and hulls. As well as Engines, Drives, Shields, etc.
I took the Detroyat Class and expanded it's Secondary Hull by about 40%. I had a dozen such ships converted from their original specs and to my own specifications.
Some of the changes... Twin fore and single aft torpedo launchers, doubling the number of fighter craft and pilots (as well as replacements), and the addition of small Industrial Fabricators.
The Fabricators were there for making needed parts and spares, as well as providing (over time) enough parts and pre-fabbed structures to build replacement Fighters as needed.
All of this did come at a cost though, and even with an upgraded Warp Core, no improved speed was possible. But, if one of my Detroyat ships got near an asteroid field, I could 'top off' anything needed in short order.
Once I had the first dozen in service, I created a version that was like your 2nd build ships... mobile factories for colonies and such. I built well over 2 dozen over time, and especially thought I was clever in sending them to systems without habitable worlds to 'dredge' their asteroid fields to provide my Fleet with a source of supplies and parts that, to my enemies, seemed to come from nowhere.
I suppose I could have used the standard Detroyat class ships for all this, but you know how it is... gotta 'tinker' with the designs!
FASA as a company might be dead, but the properties they created are headed for a 2nd golden age!
ОтветитьDo the Norway class
ОтветитьSo this ship could also be called Detroit class lol
ОтветитьIm a big fan of the invisible impulse engines.
Ответитьty David...nice..
Ответить200ish by 100 something meters?? That's not very big for a star ship. Maybe a runabout...
ОтветитьSeems to be quite flat saucered and undefined a bit. But not all can be winners.
ОтветитьI never knew about that extra heavy phaser
ОтветитьAnother excellent video! Love the history you've created for this class ship!
ОтветитьOkay, from first glance in my head I saw a 23rd Century version of the Saber class starship with how the secondary hull looks and the boxy section at the back of the saucer - but that is what I immediately saw from first glance, another sort of inspiration for Starfleet engineers to take design aspects from for a quick and easy ship to build especially for war against the Borg and the Dominion in the 24th century.
Another plus for me what I love in the 23rd Century ship designs are the spikes on the bussard collectors, I don't know why but I htink they look awesome on them.
A ships class diesnt have to look as graceful as their top of their line starships, if it is able to carry out the job that the designers want it to do then the look isn't really that much of importance (except in some designs that can be seen as questionable).
The decision of having the class going from a caarier starship to an outpost/starbase rebuild/repair vessel and constructor of new facilities in the expanding territory of the Federation that can defend itself as well, thats a great feat in itself.
This is the first I am actually hearing or even seeing this class of vessel and it looks like a fun ship to serve on
Never even heard of this ship! Great video as always.
Ответить* chants * DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! 🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьI always misread the name as Destroyat.
ОтветитьCan we someday get a video on Starfleet Fighters/Escort ships?
ОтветитьI like it.. never heard of it, bui I like it LOL
Ответить👍👍🖖
ОтветитьQuick question for Mr Tri. When you list the stats for these classic ships do you use the warp standard of the time or the new TNG standard?
ОтветитьAs soon as I saw this design, it made me recall the angular secondary hull, I first saw in the one-off
magazine issue of Starship Design magazine, where the feature article was about Starfleet's attempt at a
"battlecruiser" design that had several design issues, in the ST TMP design style. It was also referred in some tech books
of the day, that no one seems to produce anymore. This is going back at least 20+, possibly 30 years ago.
I'm not at home as I write this so, I can not refer to my archive.
But, I'm sure there are some ST starship tech nerds out there that know what I'm talking about.
Another Ship that needed to be in the TOS series!!!
Ответитьpersonally in my headcannon i like to think that both the 4 years war and the war in DISCO happened. after all picard states that there was decades of war with the klingons. and the two wars a depicted very differently. no one can accuse of the klingons doing the same thing twice.
ОтветитьPlease keep covering the FASA material. That's the biggest gap in my Trekkie experience and I enjoy the stories you craft around them
ОтветитьI like this, I like this a lot.
ОтветитьFASA had some really great ship designs. They also had some bonkers looking originals and kit bashes that made no sense but you could cherry pick good looking fleets across all the factions.
ОтветитьI never see the ships of Star Fleet and the ships of Discovery ever being in the same universe. They are just so different in design to me. I do like how you fill in their histories with these vids. That is the good about these, but the disco ships are the bad in these.
ОтветитьThe Detroyat class is a really cool looking Starship a really amazing design
ОтветитьI love that your digging into the Fasa Ships, I loved a lot of those
ОтветитьHello! I have to say that I love your Truth or Myth series and I was wondering if I could make a ship suggestion?
I would like to suggest an alternate design of the Constitution class from the 2009 movie. The design is known as the "Kelvinprise". It's basically a version of the Constitution class that has the design aesthetic of the Kelvin and the rest of the fleet. I have found a few images of it online and I also have a resin model kit of it if you need pictures of it. I think the lore for it could be similar to what you did for the TOS Constitution class. Where the original USS Constitution was completed before the Enterprise but it didn't have the advancements in technology that the Enterprise had.
Reminds me of the saber class
Ответитьit would be great to have a playlist only with videos related to ships and others with TOS design
ОтветитьGreat video, as always! Though I‘m not sure I really like either the Fasa or Franz Joseph designs. But I guess that has a lot to do with coming on.board more with TNG than with TOS…
ОтветитьWow, this is really like a TOS Shenzhou.
ОтветитьI remember a.similar class based on the Excelsior Class called the Ingram Class I think
ОтветитьI really love how you went creative on the background of this ship. I remember it seeing the FASA version once on a con in my hometown, as a teen. Sadly the con didn't survived the times but what i remember where a lot of Trek loving, model redesigning and kitbashing people discuss this ship. So this was a neat little allmost 20+ years throwback for me. :)
ОтветитьWhile I don’t like this starship design, I do love the history you created for this ugly duckling. Keep up the great work.
ОтветитьHad some paper “blueprints” of the Detroyat I ordered in the early-mid 80s. Still have em!
Ответитьcan you make a playlist of all the star trek starship episodes??
ОтветитьI'd like to see something about the Mitannic/M'nahga Class
Ответитьfirst thing i thought of was the later Saber class . At least now I know what a TOS version of the Saber class looks like .
ОтветитьBSG has one the best space aircraft carriers, next would be the B5 space station.
ОтветитьYou should cover the Soyuz class too. Nice vid
ОтветитьI didn't see any impulse engines.
ОтветитьMan Cant Have SHIT in Detroyat
Ответитьi think the uss shenzhou from star trek discovery could have been a detroyat class ship if the series had been in the TOS style both designs are quite similar though different the description that the shenzhou is an old ship but still works the it takes where they need it because it fits well with the detroyat class, due to its design of the bussard collector of warp engines it can be assumed that it began to be built more or less at the time when pike was in command of the enterprise, and considering that the series discovery is only 10 years before the original series, it could make sense what I say.
Ответитьit's a beautiful ship 😊
Ответитьum...how does this thing move sub-light? There are NO impulse engines or anything else to move it...
Ответить
