I am tired of windows, and mint cinnamon feels more or less the same. Use linux if you want, it's really not a big deal.
ОтветитьWhy not get a Mac? Why not get a Chromebook?
ОтветитьLinux community needs a lot more of this kinda talk..
ОтветитьGenuinely I got lot more problems in linux since I switched from windows .. windows is just kids play.. it's been 3 days I got linux.. man linux hard but I am getting used to it ..
Ответитьits low key sad that linux can't do everything that windows can. just basic stuff on windows not being there for linux. if you want something like speech recognition you need to go find some python program
ОтветитьSo many people are bolted to Windows by software that only runs on it, even those who want to use Linux for everything. But it's something that is entirely out of user's control (though donating to Wine and Linux foundation is always a nice idea), so anyway. At least I don't depend on anything Windows-specific.
Also, I don't know why but I always just gave up trying to use Debian on desktop - I know that it can be done, but my brain isn't even nearly enough to make all of the required maintenance for the system to make all of my games run smoothly, so my current distro is Fedora Kinoite.
i have to study basic linux commands for my comptia a+ core 2 exam linux sucks! its required I''ll suck it up
Ответитьi wand a harder life
thats why i got linux
I'm still on windows 10 but I dont like windows 11 i don't want to use it what is your advice
Ответить"If you are required to use ANY programs..." jail it in a virtual system where it belongs. No root no OS, float that crap virtual.
ОтветитьThe big disadvantage of Windows 11 for this year is not every system that run Windows 10 is eligible for Windows 11 upgrade and Microsoft is ending support on Windows 10 on 10/14/2025, which mean there is no security updates. My laptop's processor is not supported for Windows 11. I would say if you were going to Linux, it depends on what you use your computer for. If it is just browsing the internet and watching videos and movies, you are using no peripherals, willing to learn new things, then Linux Mint should work just fine, and it can be used just as a virtual machine without installing it. If you use a lot of software that works only with Windows, and you still want the security of Linux, then you can dual boot Windows 10 and Linux or just use Linux only as a virtual machine off the USB drive and use only Windows 10 offline after 10/14/2025 and use Linux if you are going online especially when doing security sensitive activities, such as online shopping, banking, etc. The current laptop I am using is ten years old and still runs like a top.
Switching from Windows to Linux is like switching from a car to a motorbike. It is not for everyone and there is no one size fits all.
You must be kidding...
Ответитьdont use Linux if you want just normal daily user. Gaming, Internet, Music, Video editing and so on. Linux is not good for any of it. Gaming sucks, half of the software don't have Linux support. So no . If you just a normal PC user as 99% of people you never ever use Linux. If you want to learn something new than yes go on. Even to change a Linux theme you need 1 trillion steps , downloading extensions, using terminal and if it works its cool, if its not working get ready to spend 7 hours on the internet figuring out wtf when wrong lol. You can use it if you want harm your brain. Windows is the best for majority of people and I mean majority. Linux is not even close in that sense. Its like Walmart and your corner shop.
ОтветитьDesktop Linux will never be popular
ОтветитьMy problem ist, that i love Linux. I love the desktop and the open source idea. But so many programs - and sorry for the people investing their free time in it - is so bad an not really usable. I ran in so many bugs and errors and can not find the time to google everything up, when i just want to finish something. I would love to switch, but for me it's not there yet.
Ответитьyou are wrong
people use what is offered to them, most people only browse internet use word excel that's it i would say 70% of windows users this all what they need
I had an experiment with 10y , and 13y old boys in the beginning were not familiar later they started to use Ubuntu mate as if they were using their windows computer.
in regards to extreme users like gamers use that's an issue because most of the good games are not available in linux, but if the developers start to realize that there is a market for that they would create the Linux version for their games.
i dont need windows anymore.
Ответитьor you could just use WSL like it's there.
Ответитьfor rpcs3 emulation game performace what is best ? Windows or Linux ?
Ответитьsoftware, tools, drivers and games is better in windows
ОтветитьLinux is definitely not for everyone. Tech head, developer, it professional, yep but then you can't come close to doing all the things people want to do. Or curious people that is.
ОтветитьYou're right. I tried Linux and hated it. We had to use it at work. Thankfully, it wasn't for only a few months.
ОтветитьAfter using Linux for 4 months, I see that I do not need Windows anymore, I can easily handle it with a virtual machine sometimes when I need to use Windows, and I am very happy to be one of the rare people who switched to Linux 100%.
ОтветитьOkay, fed
ОтветитьIt is your own choice to use Linux or Windows. Actually Linux is not for everyone, those who don't like to learn new OS just stay at Windows, no problem.
Ответитьgrow food yourself
ОтветитьI love Linux, used it for 2 years. Now I am needed to use windows based programs and some games require windows I am going back to windows, LTSC of course.
ОтветитьHa! people like to say that windows has no freedom on it system meanwhile on linux you have to to rely on limited shitty knockoff apps that absolutly break in the few next minutes because of some update or whatever, meanwhile with privacy it doesnt make much of a difference aslong as you know on what website you are on and what you are downloading. Seems that linux users are just "computer nerds" but they are nothing but terminal using idiots that know nothing else aside toxicity with other computer users in their minimal brains.
Ответитьthis is truth, i've been there it's crazy how something simple in windows needs lots of fix on linux. a simple microsoft teams meeting in garuda linux last 2 years. i wasn't able to make it run. i didn't have time so i just joined using my phone. sometimes it works, a lot of time it surprises you it doesn't run the app properly
ОтветитьYeah I use Linux one time and it was a pain to get started so I use Windows 11 now
Ответитьlol this aged well
ОтветитьI keep trying to switch to Linux permanently, but, since I play games, on an Nvidia GPU, I always return to Windows.
ОтветитьBefore getting hands on Linux, use open source software like blender, inkscape, gimp etc. and you will notice how hard it is to achieve very simple things. Linux is not for everyone, it is not worth the hustle
ОтветитьHave been using Linux dual boot, but eventually decided to use windows only. Linux diatros are still not suitable for common user like me.
ОтветитьThe Windows guys are nervous because that's their money honey and Linux has finally got really good, so it has good Programs to run
And it's reliable too. Linux is FEEE too.
That's were the problem starts...
A Windows machine should run Windows
Programs.
A Linux machine should run Linux Programs.
Nice try, Microsoft shill!
ОтветитьEveryone is CAPABLE of using Linux, and in many respects Linux is far easier and friendlier to use than Windows. To your point, some people are constrained by their need for certain Windows proprietary software, and for those people they should absolutely remain on Windows. Unless and until someone WANTS to leave Windows and is willing to make the effort to learn a different a different paradigm, it is almost pointless to try switching.
ОтветитьUsing Linux for a bit to set up a simple server. Literally had to have chatGPT hold my hand through out the entire process. Every tiny little hiccup. It got through it, up until it somehow told me to remove read/write permission to everything. Then that OS didn't boot anymore so now I have to think of another solution because the Debian repair thing won't even boot (the screen is all glitchy) Tried to figure it out, but that was the point I realized I was forcing myself to use something I hated, repeatedly held me and my data at knife point... there just comes a time in every persons life that some things just aren't for them. x'D
Using linux gives me the same amount of anxiety as walking down a dank alley, I know there's a very cool part of the city somewhere with some neat shops or bars, buuut should I really risk it? x'D
Why not use Windows apps via a browser?
ОтветитьEveryone can use Linux sucker
ОтветитьWell, he's right - if you want to use Linux or any other OS, you must be ready to learn new stuff and to overcome new challenges.
ОтветитьThis is the Linux catch 22. Linux doesn't have software support because no one uses Linux ♻ No one uses Linux because developers don't make software for Linux.
As a graphics professional, I MUST use adobe products. They are the industry standard. No, GIMP and Inkscape are NOT "just as good". The only thing that comes close is Affinity, but that doesn't run natively on Linux either. Now that Microsoft has blatantly doubled-down on spyware, I have to figure something out.
I agree - if you're just going to use a bunch of Windows programs, don't try it with Linux. Linux is fine for a FEW Windows programs with Wine, a FEW. If you have to commonly use Windows programs, but not often, install a virtual machine. If you want to play video games and you don't want to use Windows, wait for SteamOS to come out, it's already sort of out, but it still needs work. Don't try to use Linux just to run Windows programs. It's no end to headaches.
ОтветитьThis aged well..
ОтветитьThis is a great take and it drives me crazy the way so many Linux people bash Windows. I swear most of them have never used Windows 10/11 and still think it's like Windows XP/Vista. I love Windows 11 and it's been more stable than any Linux distro I've used and has the best support for hardware and applications. I love Linux for certain things and it's far better than macOS but it's not really a good option for most people.
ОтветитьAs a windows user, I understand you. I tried Linux, And it's not for me. Dual boot... no sorry dudes. I've been trying to learn more about the history of Linux, and it was never for me :) even tho I love tech and pcs
ОтветитьBoth Linux and Windows suck for completely diffrrent reasons
ОтветитьJust some Truth. Finally❤
ОтветитьIf you want to run windows programs on linux then the answer is stay on windows.
There is for example no adobe software on linux... so either you use GIMP and Davinci Resolve or you use windows and Adobe stuff.
